One reason that I find the first disciple of Golden Wheel Monk to be a worthy mysterious personality is due to his excellent talent as a Great's disciple. This first disciple was said to have reached a much higher martial arts level than Daerba and Huodu. He was explicitly described to be extremely talented. Unfortunately, he died young, and Golden Wheel Monk was unable to find a replacement of his calibre. Now, Huodu and Daerba were already approximately equal to the finest of the Great's disciples. They were slightly weaker than Qiu Chuji but not by a huge margin. That means Golden Wheel Monk's first disciple, at a young age, must be much better than Qiu Chuji as well. Had he not died young, he might have turned out to rival the Greats. This, I find, to be a very interesting character, one that deserves to be known more.

While I also think that GWMs first disciple should have been very impressive from what GWM thought about him I just don't find him particulary mysterious, as there is no indication that he ever did something extraordinary besides learn GWMs martial arts, and we have pretty much seen them already. TSTL on the other hand has got lots of completely unique and mysterious martial arts and is a member of the very interesting Xiao Yao sect, plus she even managed to create her own sect and controll many lesser schools and clans, that's why I think she should win.

Actually, there is a passage by the narrator that talks about how good this first disciple is, in addition to Jinlun Guoshi's own words.

She is good. However I think the one that is truly mysterious, is the teacher of the 3 Xiaoyao Pai elders who freaking knew all of their combined martial arts. If Tonglao beats her teacher in this game, the heavens will cry.
