Huang Yushi's response just pulled the teacher 'side' of me into this forum. I am feeling quite guilty for sort of 'egging' her to continue translating without sparing a thought for her primary purpose for translating ...
Take your time, Huang Rong.
Don't say that. There's nothing more demoralising than such self-deprecating comments. Don't view your translation as simply a project to help improve your language skills. Above all, take pride in your work; pure diligence could only take you this far, especially when the subject you're trying to improve is on language.Originally Posted by Huang Rong
Treat this translation as a hobby -- one that you can truly enjoy while immersing yourself into this seemingly arduous journey. If you want to expect results from something, do it well, and enjoy it.
Not to mention veterans like Huang Yushi are here to guide you and all. And I can drop in some mildly useful helps occasionally. Ultimately, you will benefit from this most -- not us, not the readers. Don't bother about where your translation will end up eventually (you may never know).
Feel free to ask for help when you need it, but be sure it's when you've really placed in a lot of effort instead of doing it simply because you just needed some convenient help.
Wishing you the best,
Pacifian
