I'm trying hard to like Ming Dao. What's his personality like? I might warm up to him if we get cute bts or if he manages to pull off a good performance. On the bright side, at least it's not Feng Shaofeng.

^For HXM's acting, it depends on what you watch. He has both good and bad performances. I haven't watched all his series and movies but I would personally have a very hard time placing his performances ahead of Nicky's 4th. But I'd say Nicky as 4th is very hard to beat anyway.

I would rank Huang Xiao Ming higher.
His most critically acclaimed role is in "Shanghai Bund". He was so good in that drama. His performance can be comparable to Chow Yun Fat's performance in "The Bund".

PLOT:
Xiao Han, who runs a small lodge, is the prettiest girl in the little village on Hainan Island. Jie Luo is the haughty son of a woman who is in command of a big business group. He was asked by his mother to help her in renovating some parts of the island, and thus lived into Xiao Han's lodge. When Jie Luo was trying to purchase some land, he was confronted by some problems, which were soon solved with the help of Xiao Han. Their personalities are miles apart, but when they got to realise each other more through working together, they slowly fell in love. Yet Jie Luo's mother was against them being together, and wanted Xiao Han to leave Jie Luo, in exchange for the continuation of the island's renovation project. For the good of the island, Xiao Han decided to leave him. This dealt a great blow on Jie Luo, and finding Xiao Han became his only job.

Xiao Han couldn't put away this love either, and when Jie Luo's searches finally took effect, he was involved in a car crash moments before they were to meet. On this occasion, Xiao Han returned to Jie Luo's side and pulled him back from Hades. This plot doesn't attract me that much (IMO, only a few modern dramas do attract me), but I'll give this a try for LSS.

Yeah, it definitely depends on which performance you're watching, but I love him for his hard working down to earth personality, and *ahem* his looks. I think he does better as an intense serious character, because for comedic stuff or when he has to be immature I kinda cringe, like in ROCH 2006 and Duke of Mount Deer. But he was really good in An Xiang, and he was in the critically acclaimed movie The Message.

Definitely. As you said, Chinesechik, this is like most taiwanese idol dramas, if not the epitome (with the added ingredient of Ming Dao makes it even worse)-but I won't go back on my word-I'll try it for LSS, but I can't promise I'll last through it.
This is kind of like the feeling I had for Modern New People (Hu Ge, Ivy Chen). It was quite cliche, with all the romantic entanglements, and the work order. THAT is why I prefer ancient dramas, even though some may call their plots cliche as well.

The storyline is so cliche'. They're probably throw in a love interest from her villiage, and a female antagonist for him. And didn't Ming Dao already played this type of role? The wealthy son of some sort?

I'll just get rid of that picture in the quote. Definitely. Ming Dao's played these kinds of characters heaps of times, without any improvement. I can adopt with any of LSS' lead men, WITH a few exceptions.

Yes, Ming Dao is definitely confirmed.
Even though I didn't like his portrayal (apart from the hotness) of Yang Guo / ROCH06 or the 2nd lead in Summer's desire, I would've preferred him anytime over Ming Dao.
