Took off more slowly? Don't think so. At age 22, she's offered her first lead role in CtW (which she turned down for a better role). Hu Ge was 23 when he did CP1 and she was 23 when she did YSN. So she got into prominent lead roles the same time as Hu Ge. Lin Gengxin (who's way past 23) has not gotten any lead role. Not to mention YH. And I don't think any other actress was ever considered for YSN? - i.e. it wasn't open to audition. The only role since CtW where she wasn't given first right of refusal was Ruoxi, whereas all the other roles, she's given the first right. So yeah, she's worked hard, but she didn't have to struggle.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think Dragon and I were comparing age (or at least I was not) when I said she didn't get lead roles until recently with Tangren, I was referring more the terms she's been in the entertaining business. If you want to compare to HG, he was lead in his first series Dandelion and his second in Young Warrios, third series CP1 right (again, no age comparison)? And again, YH was just the unfortunate step child in Tangren, so he really didn't have a choice.

And to be honest, IMO, the only reason why LSS got offer lead in CTW was because of what happen with the YM's fiasco. It's after that situation that Karen made the statement to promote their own artist rather than other actors/actress outside of the company. LGL, Karen, and even LSS knew she wasn't ready for the lead role, but LGL stated he believed in her and that he can work with LSS (meaning, give her extra help). But at the end, she didn't like the role and asked to be Jiayi instead.

So yeah, she's worked hard, but she didn't have to struggle.

When I said she struggled, I meant she was struggling to improve in her acting thoughout the years. Also, like ailinon stated. The reason why LSS have been getting first dip in Tangren's project lately was because she's the only one in Tangren (aside from HG, but he's doing outside of company projects) that can lead until the other artists of Tangren gain the experience and status.

Maybe signing with Ruby's co. may do him good cos he just didn't suit TR's culture?

No announcement from his side on what he's working on now. I remember reading the famous author Xin Yu Wu wanted him in the new movie adaptation of "Youth" (which Vicki Zhao is directing), but his star status isn't there yet to break into the big screen.

Guess I equate "struggle" with career path rather than "hard work". But many actors/actresses in the industry also work very hard at acting skills plus attend countless auditions, yet do not get good roles. LSS is very blessed not to have to audition for plum roles.

But I do suspect she did audition for HSDS and The Next Magic.

Yes, I totally agree...LSS was very fortunate to be adored by Karen and got signed on with Tangren. Even in her earlier days with the company, most of her roles were pretty good (Ms. Luo, Mu Nianci, Long Kui), as compared to other great but less fortunate actors/actresses who up to this day still are underrated. But who do you blame? I think how a company treat/promote their artistes have a lot to do with the success of actors/actresses aside from their own work/talents of course . With LSS, its because Tangren happened to be producing good/better series that are popular amongst the younger generation that she became more well-known. So indeed she won't have to audition for her roles with Tangren

ZJZ got LSS to be Yellow Maiden because of her previous role as Mu Nianci, and looking like LYF. And the producer/director of "The Next Magic" sought LSS for the role of Jiayi after watching and was moved with LSS's princess Jiayi's devotion to Lin MuFei in CTW. Which was like the character in "The Next Magic".

Is it just me? Somehow, I feel that SS seems to be trying to distant herself from YH... During bbjx's promos, she seemed more candid talking about him as her soulmate... It seems that she's trying to downplay or even deliberately skip mentioning him totally (somehow it seems like Karen's doing again?)

If you've been following her weibo, LSS rarely initiate any conversations with YH weibo. She usually chimes in to his post when others do it first (her managers/publicists). But I'm sure talk behind the scene (not weibo).

Jin Yu is very direct to HQB about her feelings. Is she like that in real life? She said yes, she's very direct and will say it out if she likes a person.

There's a new Young Warriors movie coming up, Saving General Yang, led by Wu Zun (Liu Lang) and Raymond Lam (Wu Lang) But I don't think much of the acting chops of these two. Might just watch it out of curiosity's sake and for Louis Koo (Da Lang) and Vic Zhou (San Lang) who's unfortunately not in a major role in the movie.
