    Default Photography Lovers: Critique Service

Don't know if this will work out, but hopefully people will participate. Each day, you will post a maximum of ONE picture you have personally taken.

Others can critique/comment on it, and hopefully this helps us photography hopefuls improve our skills.

The picture seems pretty dark, probably taken early morning. But since the sun seems already up, its probably just the rays of light going against the lens of the camera. I'm not too sure though because I don't have experience in photography but I'm planning to take a lot of photos soon before I go back to asia. My only advice would be, make sure the photo is crystal clear so viewers can really see the beauty of the scenery you photographed.

I like the clouds - but must you include the bottom 'background' if it's in the dark anyways?

This was actually taken at 6 a.m. (roughly then) inside a car with a cell phone camera. So not too bad given the quality of the instrument.

I liked the clouds too. I didn't photoshop it, but if I did, I bet I could see the bottom stuff.

Looking forward to your pics Bangs =) My advice (though I'm nowhere near giving advice to anyone haha, just a photography fanatic), take LOTS. The more you take, the more likely one of them is bound to turn out well, whether by experience or luck/fluke.

Aw, I want to put more up, but must adhere to my own rules =P

To get a good picture, you would really need a better camera than a mobile phone camera i.e. you would need something that enable you to adjust your focus, lighting etc --> even those point and click digital camera is better than mobile phone camera.

EDIT: Another photo for the thread: $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/7586/dsc01143ay6.jpg')

Wow so pretty! Where was this taken? Do you have a SLR? And could you shrink it next time, Doc? Since it's really hard to see the whole view. And in my opinion, I think I would include less of the yellow flowers.

I do have a camera, but it's not very convenient and I don't really have the time to take pictures spontaneously. Actually tomorrow, I'll put up a pic I took with a real camera. I got a new one as a gift this summer but I need to figure out how to use it properly.

There are cons of a real camera though, especially when you're taking pictures of people. I like shooting pics of random things I find interesting on my way home, given my long commute, and I see tons of things. I know it's unethical, but it's just so much easier shooting pics with a cell phone than a real camera..people get mad. But not to worry, I don't shoot personal stuff or anything, just mobs of people and subway pics I find interesting.

    Han Solo,

Please resize your picture, it is huge, even with my screen resolution.

I was going to post mine too, but I think I need t resize it.

Hey Han Solo, do you recognise where this is taken from?

Tips on how to take a good photo? - I just snap without playing with the camera.

Wow that's beautiful. Perfect scenery imo. Can you tell me where it was taken?

    1) Don't know or can't be bothered to resize the photo.

    2) Yearning, it is just a point and shoot digital camera, not an SLR --> wish i can afford one of those.

    3) Yittz, 12th apostle. I love the great ocean road.

    4) JamesG, loved your picture, its great.

    5) PJ, how do you make the photo curve like that?

Here's a picture I've taken just this past August. This was taken on the morning after a night of rain, so there's still some raindrops on the flower (I do have a less close up version of the flower).

Yittz, I really like your picture. Was this before or after the sunset? The sky seem kind of devoid of bright sunlight. Nonetheless very tranquil-looking.

PJ, I like how you've captured the mountains in the background and the buildings. We can get a sense of the life there.

Han, As I've said, that photo is humongous, but anyway, I love the yellow folowers and the scenery.

Love the imagery portrayed in your photo. One flower at its peak, but on its way downhill, facing another who is at the beginning of its journey. The grey stone wall puts greater emphasis on the water caressed beauty.

It was still afternoon - Sun's hiding behind some clouds, the weather was poor during out visit.

    Me likie! Great colors.

PJ, I like how you've captured the mountains in the background and the buildings. We can get a sense of the life there.
Thanks. One thing that I think could have been better was the clouds - not as vivid as I would like them to be.

Good question, I honestly don't know, my camera does that automatically sometimes, and this was one of those rare occasions when it did that!

Wow that's beautiful. Perfect scenery imo. Can you tell me where it was taken?
It is the town of Yangshuo, near Guilin, in Guangxi province.

i should probably crop it a little and get rid of the old man in the background. -_-

I actually really like yearning's...yes the lighting is not ideal but it brings out some sort of emotion within me.

Meanwhile, my pictures don't really seem to do that...and if they do, it's because of the subject, not my photography skills.

So anyway, I am one of the worst photographers I've ever known - my only skill is that my photos don't tend to blur. However, Hua Gang Guan Yu was so pretty I couldn't mess up this shot too badly

    $this->handle_bbcode_img_match('http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc255/ilikecaffeine/DSC00184.jpg')

Basically, bad photography skills (looking at it again I feel like the picture was kind of crooked) but nice scenery The balance gives me a peaceful, tranquil feeling.

That is a beautiful photo babydoll! So jealous that you got to go there.
As beautiful as it is natural, it wouldn't hurt to go through a little lighting re-touches.
