More pictures of the taiyu show posted on the official website but you can also see it here: http://tieba.baidu.com/f?kz=396199952. Despite the rustic setting and his simple dressing, I think Xiezhi still look like an idol. I won't say he looks out of place but I hope the "taiyu show" viewers will find him a refreshing change from the usual taiyu actors.

Remember this show that 56 recorded in China about a month ago? http://tieba.baidu.com/f?kz=395633587. It is supposed to be shown yesterday as 1st June is China's Children Day. However, with the earthquake tragedy that killed so many children, the telecast date of this show was delayed. Wonder if we will still get to watch it this year or will the show be put away.

Jungiery has posted a clip to publicise their Jstar products charity sales here: http://www.j-star.tw/ and someone has pasted the pictures here: http://tieba.baidu.com/f?kz=396401961

I agree with you, exadel. Xiezhi looks very shuai, even though he is dressed very plainly. Just wondering what the viewership of taiyu drama is like. But I'm sure that Xiezhi's presence in the show will draw 5566 fans as well. I just hope that they will have a mandarin version of it.

I think the ratings for those 8pm shows are usually higher than the idol dramas. The average ratings for idol dramas are about 2 to 3 and anything from 5 and above is considered very good, just like what's happening to QiaoEn's drama, Fated to Love You. The ratings for the top two 8pm shows are consistently about 7 to 8 and the current settv taiyu drama is about 3.5 whilst Shaowei's Huan Xi Lai Dou Zhen is close to 2.

As for Xiezhi's new show, I hope to be able to watch both the taiyu and Mandarin version. I want to hear Xiezhi speak in taiyu but may need to watch the Mandarin version to understand the story better.

Warner's artistes including 5566, 183 club and 7 flowers recorded a song of encouragement for the earthquake victims: http://www.maxparty.com.tw/4_6.asp?M...BPostID=139220. Jungiery explained that Mingdao is currently in China helping out in the earthquake cause which is why he is not able to be part of this Warner song.

More pictures of Xiezhi's taiyu show: http://tieba.baidu.com/f?kz=397617951. This picture is from Zhou You Ting's blog and she said that she had lots of fun filming this show.

As for this: http://tieba.baidu.com/f?kz=396808769, pictures 2, 3 and 4 are taken by the owner of the grape plantation and picture 13 is taken by someone who happened to be at their filming site at that time. She took this photo as she recognised Xiezhi.

Thanks for the updates, exadel! I need to see the Mandarin version because I can't understand much Taiwanese. I am really a newbie to the language, coming from a family that speaks Cantonese. I would like to learn more, but don't think they have tapes on how to learn Taiwanese though.

Well- good to hear that taiyu shows actually get higher ratings than idol shows- I was a little surprised about that.

Here's the 4th promo clip:http://tw.youtube.com/watch?v=luMiYCnDpWc and 5th promo clip: http://tieba.baidu.com/f?kz=400678093 of the taiyu show. Glad to see that Xiezhi appears in all these clips so it means that he plays an important character in the show. Btw, I only understand a bit of taiyu but I love the way Xiezhi speaks taiyu so I will have to rely on the sub-titles.

In the Welcome to Beijing mv http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPhGVb57IZ0 5566 appears near the end at about 5:36 mins and they sang only two lines with another male singer. Or you can watch this clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3Y11NEFyUU as the person edit out the front part so that the clip starts with 5566.

As for the "earthquake" song, I don't think it is out yet.

Yeah, I love how Xiezhi's voice is so musical and expressive. I just love hearing him speak. Too bad he was dubbed over in Mo Jian. I still don't know why they did that. It's not like he can't speak Mandarin.

Anyways, I am glad that he is in all of the promotion clips for the new show so far so his character must be important. He looks so handsome despite the really plain clothes (orange!).

Here's the promo clips 6 & 7: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmvSM7ZQ6ik. Looks like Settv values Xiezhi's participation in this show as so far Xiezhi appears in every clip compared to the other 2 male leads and 4 female leads. I love his innocent and charming smile.

This taiyu show is supposed to be a heartwarming show about the love for their land, family ties and the bond among the 3 sworn brothers. After looking at these clips, I now changed my mind and hope that Xiezhi's character doesn't turn evil later on. I rather he shows his acting range by having to go through difficult or heartbreaking scenes with his fathers and love relationships. But with a show of about 200 episodes, you never know what the scriptwriters have to do to keep the viewers interested.

Btw, most China shows are dubbed even if the whole cast are from China, so even more so if they have stars from the various Asian countries. I guess the main reason is to ensure that everyone speaks in the same accent. So even those stars who speak perfect Mandarin are also dubbed.

The more clips I see, the more I want to watch it. Looks like a refreshing and interesting storyline.

Yeah, I agree with you, exadel, that I would like Xiezhi to show his acting ability through portrayal of having to go through difficult relationships, but I wouldn't mind his character turning 'bad' later on and then maybe realizing his faults eventually.

Thanks for explaining about the dubbing in China made series. Just curious for taiyu series, do the original actors do the Mandarin voice-over? One of my tv stations is showing Liu Bo Wen in Mandarin, but I can't tell if they are the original actors' voices or not since I'm not too familiar with the actors in that series.

Thanks exadel! i finally know which part did 5566 sang.
I was thinking how come in the show Shi Shen, RF voice did not doub since XZ's one had.
If i'm not wrong, the chinese versons is not the orginal actors voices.

I always thought that Shi Shen is a HK production but I could be wrong. Nowadays with all these collaborations, it is really hard to know if the show is a China, HK or TW production.

There were recent news about the filming of the taiyu show but nothing much on XZ except one article said that XZ seems to have things easy because in one scene, he was merely tied up whereas the other 2 guys were hung upside down and dipped in water. You can see the pictures here: http://tieba.baidu.com/f?kz=403427196 and here is the clip captured by one of the actors, Chen Ting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KlLJuGQIF0.

Another news article said that XZ and Tang Jiahao had a showdown in one scene. They challenged each other to see who is more courageous so each drove a huge vehicle and try to bang into each other. Wonder if they are friends or foes in this show? I feel that Tang Jiahao resembles Andy Lau and thought that with his looks, he should be given bigger roles in idol dramas. Btw, promo clips 9 & 10 are already out but XZ did not appear in them so I didn't post the links here.

Other news on 56. RF and SW will be in Singapore this weekend as judges for the finals of the "U are the One". This is our local TV station's talent search for the fresh face of the year. Seems like RF and SW are the only foreign celebrities in the group of 7 judges. RF and SW will also be performing that night.

More exciting news. 56 is appointed as the ambassadors of the Taiwan Olympics Team. I guess their job is to promote and create awareness about the Olympics. They will be attending next Monday's (16 Jun) press conference with the TW olympics gold-medalists. I wonder if it is their Bravo song or their sporty image from hosting SNTGD or XZ's Jstar Baseball Team that helped them clinch this honour of being part of the Olympics.

Actually, I was also hoping that XZ could be invited by a TW TV station to be a commentator for the Olympics baseball matches. Last year, XZ received good reviews when he was a guest commentator for a baseball match. The sports fans felt that he is a knowledgeable and entertaining host.

Seems that sales of the Jstar goodies bags for the Sichuan earthquake cause are doing well. Jstar artistes may also go on shows or public events to continue promoting this cause ... wonder if we will see more of 56 or if XZ is too busy with filming to go on shows ? Chris Ko also mentioned that Mingdao and TORO!! have returned to Jstar and will be actively involved in this.

I will be very happy if Toro is indeed back at Jungiery. I feel that he has potential and he will be able to bring more attention back to Jstar if he is popular. Too bad, his career was earlier disrupted and let's hope he is more matured now.

I am so happy about 5566 being chosen as the ambassadors of the Taiwan Olympics Team! I'm sure it's their sporty, clean and friendly image that has helped. It will really help promote them as well. They are so deserving of even greater popularity. Hope that San-lih will let Xiezhi do some guest commenting on the games. He is such a great host.

I really wanted to get a J-Star charity t-shirt, but I guess they are limiting the sale of the goodie bags to Asia only.

Toro is a songwriter and singer right?

It's great to see how 56 has weathered all the criticism and competition from newcomers and re-proving themselves as artistes of ability & substance instead of relying on the popularity of their idol status.

Yes, it is about time 56 is recognised as versatile and serious artistes with substance rather than fluffy idols.

Toro is the singer (used to be a member of boy-bands Energy and Typhoon), song-writer and actor. He is also a great dancer and he used to co-host Xi Ha Pi Tou 4 with XZ, RF and Yan Xingshu.

Here's clip no. 10 of the taiyu show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQ-Xvnbm2ZE which means that it is clips no. 8 & 9 that do not have XZ. Looks like I got all the numbers mixed up

Well, about that "torture" scene mentioned in my earlier post, it seems that XZ did not have it so easy afterall. Someone who acted as an extra in that scene wrote on his blog that XZ had the hardest time compared to the rest because he was all tied up so he could not move about for the whole day.

Someone has consolidated all the pictures of the taiyu show here: http://tieba.baidu.com/f?kz=408076055 and posts no. 28 to 32 are the new pictures that are just posted on the settv site. You can go to the settv main site: http://www.settv.com.tw/taiwan/twd022/ if you want to see the new pictures of the other cast members.

Picture at post no. 29 should be of that scene mentioned in the papers about XZ and Tang Jiahao's showdown. There is a picture of Tang Jiahao riding a similar vehicle on the main settv site. Actually in the news report, it was said that Director Feng Kai was not satisfied with the scene and he wanted to re-film the entire scene and have both guys ride a larger and more dangerous vehicle. Since these pictures are posted on the settv site, it seems that the news report is not accurate at all.

According to today's news report which is all about Chen Zhao Rong: http://udn.com/NEWS/ENTERTAINMENT/ENT7/4384185.shtml, the taiyu show will be telecast in TW on 25 June 2008.

Poor Xiezhi! Feel sorry for him being tied up all day. Makes you really wonder about the accuracy of news reports nowdays.

I don't think I've seen much of Xi Ha Pi Tou 4 so I only know of Toro by name. Got to go searching Tudou since Youtube doesn't have many clips of it.

That dune buggy that Xiezhi is riding in the baidu posts looks like fun. He has such a great smile.

jolene_56, thanks for the latest clip of the taiyu show. After watching all the clips, it seems that (at least at the beginning of the show) Xiezhi is the filial, shy and upright young man whereas Chen Zhao Rong seems to be a carefree & comical guy.

Haha, Chen Zhao Rong is Xiezhi's older brother in his adopted family whereas in his real family, he is Xiezhi's younger brother.

You may download or listen to the charity song by the Warner singers here: http://www.box.net/shared/3hx6fiha8g.
