I have a question. I watched a video 3 times, by refreshing. Yet the viewer count stayed the same, and even after a couple hours after other people commented.
How come this is the case?

Does it really matter? It's probably some YouTube web problem OR the Youtube view counter doesn't update after each view.
Seems to me that YouTube keeps track of your IP address so that it won't update the counter everytime you refresh.
I would love to change the world, but they won't give me the source code.
I suspect it uses cookies to identify the viewer. So if you delete the cookie, and refresh the video, the viewer counter will increment. Someone confirm if this is the case. However if you are the owner of the video and you are logged in while viewing your video, the counter will never increment after your initial viewing.
WTF does it really matter???!
number of piercings - 8 and counting.
<3 them.
Oh it got updated today. So it seems like it takes a couple of days for the youtube site to update. Went from 200 to like 1500 lol.
lol i was about to say thats very clever of youtube if they don't use cookies or IP addresses to keep count.
i guess we can only speculate. youtube isn't going to reveal how they're counting unique viewers. if it was general knowledge, a lot of people might exploit the viewer count to generate more revenue from ads.
