Default Could West Poison Au Yeung Fung's mental breakdown have been cured?

By the time that West Poison Au Yeung Fung died at the summit of Mt. Hua in ROCH, he had not been in his right mind for at least seventeen or eighteen years. Just before dying, he regained at least a large part of his memory...he remembered his real name, and he remembered whom Hung 7 Gung was.

Nevertheless, Au Yeung Fung didn't strike me as being *cured* of his mental problems at the time of his death. If Au Yeung Fung were truly cured, not only would he remember everything and everyone, he'd also be looking to resume doing the things he had been doing before his breakdown in LOCH... i.e. attempting to obtain the *real* 9 Yum Jen Ging and managing his affairs as the Lord of Mt. White Camel. He wouldn't be hanging around with Yeung Gor.

Was there ever a way to cure Au Yeung Fung's condition, restoring to him not only all his memories, but his original, sane personality from mid-LOCH?

Yea he wasn't cured on Mt Hua. He only found some of his memories.

I think with long term treatment by an accomplished doctor (like ZWJ or WYZ), he should still be curable.

I'm also wondering if the 9 Yum Jen Ging's Yee Wan Dai Fat hypnotic technique could have helped him. I don't think Au Yeung Fung's problem was neurological. The physical condition of his nervous system was probably undamaged (then again, who knows what all that training in Reverse 9 Yum Jen Ging did to him?). If that's the case, he might have been able to respond to cognitive therapy...in which case hypnotism might have been useful in drawing out his sane personality.

    2 points.

    1. I reckon some direct percussion therapy from Sweeper Monk would cure him.

    2. I think he recovered at Mt Hua. He might not have reverted to his old evil ways because he would have changed due to his experiences in the past 2 decades.

Another reason why he might not have gone back to his old ways immediately might be because he DIED ONE MINUTE LATER

Put the real manual of 9Yin in front of him, and he would probably cure himself within a day.

oyang feng lost his mind because he had rushed his practise of the altered 9yin, plus he was upset over his sons death. he fire deviated and became insane. as he kept practising the altered 9yin, his inner power improved and his injury healed, so his mind became clearer. this led to his recovery after being called by his name by HQG.
