I've read one but not the other. In OTG, JY goes into convoluted multi-paragraphs in his classic style, trying to explain why it was that Shi Potian had this perfect piece of luck to be the right character and be in the right place to somehow gain from all these adverse events and turn them to good. I'd say inimitable, if it weren't for those wonderful exercises of Jinyongification and Gulongification from a year back.
