Default Did GJ's status as H7G's student help him at all with WYS?

When East Heretic Wong Yerk See first met Gwok Jing in LOCH, the Lord of Peach Blossom Island was not at all impressed by the young man. In terms of intellect, personality, and martial arts level, Gwok Jing did not leave a favorable first impression on Wong Yerk See at all.

Nonetheless, Wong Yerk See *did* give Gwok Jing a chance with his daughter, Wong Yung. Wong Yerk See did, after all, give Gwok Jing a chance to prove himself in the contest with Au Yeung Hak rather than awarding Wong Yung to Au Yeung Hak outright, which would have been Wong Yerk See's preference.

How much do you think that Gwok Jing's status as the student of North Beggar Hung 7 Gung helped him to gain at least this modicum of consideration from Wong Yerk See? Wong Yerk See might not have been impressed by Gwok Jing overall, but the fact that Gwok Jing was Hung 7 Gung's student must have left some positive impression on Wong Yerk See. Hung 7 Gung, after all, was one of the few people whom Wong Yerk See respected and regarded as a peer, and Hung was also one of the few people whom Wong deigned to call a friend.

Had Gwok Jing's martial arts pedigree been solely the Gong Nam 7 Freaks or members of the Cheun Jen 7 Disciples, I bet that Wong Yerk See wouldn't have given him a second thought.

When Huang Yaoshi first appeared, he had been shadowing Mei Chaofeng for some time, and watched the initial fight between Mei Chaofeng and Guo Jing. When Guo Jing hit Mei Chaofeng a few times with his silent palms, Huang Yaoshi was angered that a disciple of Hong Qigong had beaten one of his, and first helped Mei Chaofeng in a second duel, then after his attention was diverted by Huang Rong and Mei Chaofeng was thus beaten, challenged Guo Jing himself. The first time he showed Guo Jing any consideration as Hong Qigong's disciple was when Hong Qigong arrived at Peach Blossom Island to argue his disciples' case. Much as he disliked the uptightness of the Quanzhen disciples, he'd have done the same to Qiu Chuji and co in Wang Chongyang's presence.

IIRC Yang Guo was the only sub-Great he respected as an individual for his own sake. Lu Guanying and Cheng Yaojia were substitutes for the Guo Jing-Huang Rong marriage he regretted opposing. Cheng Ying was taken in out of pity, and a sense of duty to a child he couldn't protect. Everyone else was beneath him unless they'd proven otherwise, or were sponsored by someone on his level (and were present).

He did respect loyal scholars though.

I wonder what his reaction would be if HR brought home YK instead of GJ, and in the status of Jin prince. Would he take him in or chop his head off for being a Jin dog.

he would probably like YK better than GJ.

Afterall, he approved of OYK, who also worked for the Jin side.

THough, I wonder if the status of being a disciple of MCF would help or lower YK's case.

Being a disciple of Mei Chaofeng might help his case, as with Lu Guanying. Learning Peach Blossom Island arts would harm his case, as with Lu Chengfeng and Lu Guanying. Learning 9 Yin arts would damn his case.
