Default Best Villain in TVB series

So who do you think is the greatest villain in a TVB series? It could be a modern or ancient drama.

I'll start with Miu Kiu Wai's Yeung Hong in Legend of Condor Heroes 1982. That was one of the best performances i've seen yet in TVB. He played the villain role with lot of charm and the viewers can even sympathize with him. A villain that gets you hooked is a mark of a great villain.

i think the most classic villain in modern era would be TING HAI 丁蟹, from the TVB series The Greed of Man 大時代. he's always thinking he's righteous, he's obnoxious, he's hot-headed, he's crazy, he's no one to reason with, and the list goes on .......

Other really great villains (great acting, and makes you really despise the person) are:

Deric Wan in Looking Back In Anger (this one, and Adam Cheng's Ding Hai are my top 2)

Simon Yam in Police Cadet 1985

Lawrence Ng in Feud Of Two Brothers & The Grand Canal

    Gallen Lo in Ambition

Nick Cheung in Secret Of The Heart

I know some actors are probably more famous for their roles as villains than they are for their "hero" or "good-guy" roles. Two that come to mind are Deric Wan and Gallen Lo. I think Deric was a better villain in Looking Back In Anger than in The Breaking Point. And Gallen's best villain role was in Ambition, with Cold Blood Warm Heart a close second, and Vengeance third.

How about Gallen as Yeung Hong in Legend of Condor Heroes 1994? I thought his performance wasn't as good as Miu Kiu Wai. MKW plays good villains.

Ting Hai is a one of a kind villain. There is no other villain in TVB series like him. There are lots of villains who did bad things and no matter the reason they did those bad things, they know very well that what they did are wrong. But, not Ting Hai. He actually believes himself to be a good guy, that he's doing the right thing, that he's honorable and righteous.

Ting Hai get under my skin, no matter how many times I re-watch this series (because Greed of Men is the Ultimate TVB Classic to me).
Make audience feel want to take a rifle and shoot him

Yes, he's so into his world. It's actually quite amusing to watch him from a safe distance.

My fav and most hated villain is Derek Wan in Looking Back in Anger. Just looking at that character, without him saying anything is enough to make me angry.

Flat and uninteresting. SHANGHAI BUND's (2007) Fung Ging Yiu did radiate a quiet menace, but had no discernible personality beyond that. That's a far cry from Lau Dan's fully-realized, three-dimensional depiction of the character.

Definately Kenneth's portrayal of Luk Gwok Wing in "The Final Verdict". He was a sympathetic character to start of with, a rich man fallen on hard times and being looked down by people around him. He is a very protective father and tries to take in all the insults until he loses it and kills the entire family. He's selfish to frame an innocent man for his crime, but his situation was very sympathetic. He had to protect his son, protect himself, plus the cops were corrupt and forcing him.

Then when he got rich, he became super-evil and cold-hearted. He forgot those who were actually nice to him in his time of need, and stepped over others to succeed. To avoid going to jail, he betrayed his son, sent people to gang-rape a girl, sent people to assault people, etcc... and did all sorts of evil things. But he never grew remorse even until the end, when he was dying from cancer. He still believed that he was right and the winner in life, oblivious to all the lives he had ruined. He rationalized his first crime to escape his conscience and believed that the world had wronged him.

This is a very well-developed character. He loves his son very much, yet he can do the most vilest acts of men. You will feel for him when he is poor, and despise him when he is rich and despicable. Kenneth did a marvellous job.

Kenneth played another 3 dimensional villain in 'Blood of Good and Evil'. He was unscrupulous and selfish enough to let his stepson took the blame for crime he did. But, on the other hand he truly loves his stepson. He was very upset when his stepson got closer and closer to his biological father. He also loves his wife very much and has been a faithful and loving husband throughout his marriage. He cherished his family very much and he went crazy when his family disintegrate.

Yeah that's true, FCY 07 was more menacing gangsta boss but LD's FCY was a more fully realized character.

Wait!!! Didn't he cheat on his wife with Yvonne Lam (???), who was his kept woman for eons? Then she left him for a younger guy who then died.
