Which instances in wuxia demonstrate high Emotional Intelligence? Please name those you can think of.

I think Huang Rong is a master of EI. She was often able to penetrate Yang Guo's self-justified shield by appealing to Yang Guo's emotions (it is no coincidence that Yang Guo happens to be a deeply emotional person).

Zhang Wuji demonstrated high EQ at Brightness Peak when he won over the orthodox world with ethic and kindness -- though I did feel the way some of them were converted to his favor was contrived.

One person of high Emotional Intelligence is a female servant of the Xixia Princess. When heroes from around the globe came to compete in winning her marriage, they were put through many fearsome and/or tedious "receptions" before they were near her presence. If would if she deliberately aroused them to kill themselves, but if it occurred by accident then it's more of an "Emotional Accident."

Yang Guo and Zhang Wuji were very empathetic. I'd argue that Huang Rong was good at surface manipulation, but wasn't as good as those two at deeper understanding of other people's emotional states that EQ usually refers to. Zhao Min is even better than Huang Rong at a surface level, while Xie Xun is good on a deeper level.

Surface - understands how people feel, and what they want, and manipulates them.
Deep - understands how people feel and what they want, and works with them to achieve a mutually satisfactory solution.

I agree. I think it's primarily because character, willpower, and mental attitude plays a much more important role in Gulong than in Jinyong.
