Gansu News Daily Network - After a year-long preparation, filming for large-scale historical period drama "Jin Guo Da Jiang Jun/ Mulan" has finally commenced at Dunhuang. Produced by Universe Entertainment and directed by famous director Tian You Liang, the production will bring together famous stars Elanne Kwong, Chen Sicheng and Yuan Hong.

"Jin Guo Da Jiang Jun" is the Universe Entertainment's biggest investment. It is reported that the production has been undergoing secret preparations for more than a year. The story is about a Chinese family with a daughter named Ruolan (Elanne Kwong), who upon learning that her father has been sent to the war frontier, disguised as a man for her father's army. Yang Jun (Chen Sicheng), a prince and army general, and Ru Zhao (Yuan Hong), a scholar and her childhood friend, will be entangled in a love triangle with Ruolan. Filming will be shot against the backdrop of the Gobi desert in Dunhuang.

ooh awesome new remake of mulan!
i didnt really enjoy the one with li bing bing, so i am looking foward to this one.
i think elaine is really pretty/cute but she looks a bit too modern for ancient dramas imo :x

The remake with Li bing Bing is a different story. There she played Mang Lai Kuan. She dressed up as a guy to become a scholar so she can help her husband family.

She can't really act nor can she really sing. em...she was in some TVB dramas, but I feel like she will ruin this drama....
But I will consider watching it cause of Yuan Hong, it's alright, I have lowered my expectations so maybe Elanne can surprise me.

Hmmm... this looks promising! I am praying for two things:

1. They give it a happy ending... come on, it's Mulan already!! The movie version with Chen Kun and Zhao Wei was soooo sad!

2. The TVB-actor-in-China effect will come into play for Elaine! What I mean by that is... many actors who we all thought previously was 'ok' or can't act while they were in TVB have come to surprise us when they are in cDramas.... Hoping this is the case with Elaine!

Actually, I hope this will be a serious drama rather than a comedy. I really love the story of Mulan taking her father's place to fight for her country. Woman power! I would rather not see them turn such a wonderful tale of one woman's sacrifice for her family and country into a silly farce. Yuan Hong and Chen Sicheng look hot. I have doubts about Elanne's acting abilities though. I've seen her act in TVB's EU and it was not all that great.

You know, I just saw another trailer for another Mulan series featuring Dylan Kuo the other day...

I think the Mulan story has been told too many times, so producers are just looking for ways to be creative with it. Plus, it's not like they have to really worry about sticking to the "original" since there isn't too much to work with anyways .
