As PJ noted, Hung 7 Gung was the 18th Generation Chief. Yau Tan Tze followed Kiu Fung as Chief, and...well, I don't know. Did Cheun Gwoon Ching serve as interim Chief in the novel? If he did, does that count?
sorry for bump the old thread, but in what chapter of loch , that 11th chief discussion appeared?

Default 100 eventful years: the century between DGSD and LOCH

The events of DGSD took place around the year CE 1100, approximately a full century before the beginning of LOCH.

One-hundred years, in terms of human lifespans, is an extremely long time. Four generations can pass within 100 years, and only a handful of people ever personally reach that age. What's interesting about the 100-year span between DGSD and LOCH is not only the number of significant wulin events and developments packed into that century, but by how quickly the events that would prelude LOCH were underway within a few years of DGSD's ending.

Case in point: the main antagonists of LOCH were the Jurchen Jin Empire, which did not yet exist during the time of DGSD, but Yeun Nan Akuta, the Jurchen chieftain who would become the founder of the Jin Empire, appeared in DGSD and befriended Siu Fung. Additionally, based on the information that Chow Bak Tung told Gwok Jing on Peach Blossom Island, the series of events that led to Wong Seung creating the 9 Yum Jen Ging must also have started within fifteen to twenty years of the end of DGSD...and if what we know about Dook Goo Kau Bai is accurate, then the Sword Demon likely dominated wulin and created his famous sword techniques and swords within thirty years (at most) after the end of DGSD as well.

So it would appear that the groundwork for the world of THE CONDOR HEROES TRILOGY began to coalesce within the first quarter century (thereabouts) after the end of DGSD.

DY gave up his playboy/ prince life and with access to the world's martial arts & knowledge of 6 meridian swords, he became DGKB and created Dugu 9 swords.

But JY wrote that it was only _many_ years later (after DGSD) that the Beggar Sect finally found a worthy young hero who XZ judged worthy enough to pass on DP/DBS. So that 'young hero' should have mixed it up with DGKB/HS?

Possibly. Depending on how many years passed, could that "young hero" have been a very young Hung 7?

Wasn't KF the 11th chief and H7G the 18th? If so then he would have passed it onto that 13th guy, because YTT would have been the 12th.

The description of the 11th Chief sure sounded like Kiu Fung, though he was never referred to as such by name. It's curious.
