OK, don't kill me. But I'm looking forward a lot more to Happiness Of An Angel than BBJQ. At least the setting of Happiness Of An Angel is pretty unique and it looks like the director will take the opportunity to showcase Hainan's unique tribal/island culture. BBJQ's setting (Shanghai?) is so generic and could be in any big city in the world.

^^TBH, I'm not terribly excited about either, although I am looking forward to 不二神探 and 对不起爱上你.

LOL...what if they decided to put HG as the competitor in place of Kevin? You know how they made game promo of BBJX/Deer and the Cauldron? And HG as WXB did fight with Kangxi (Nicky) in the promo for Ruoxi/Sophia. Besides, HG does need to be in a highly anticipated drama...LOL. Just a thought.

He'll be a goner amidst all the "assaults" and complaints from BBJX （book & drama） fans+little lions. I'm glad he accepted two theatre plays so he doesn't have to be in BBJQ.
Karen knows the original cast is a big selling point, so she'll try her best.

If we assume she is the female lead, then they are slightly... but the two 大叔s still have their own charisma, and their acting's quite good as well. If the production is done well, it'll boost LSS to a new high (due to the 2 male leads).

EDIT: Come to think of it, Nicky Wu and Kevin are the same age as WXB and ZJY.

Haha, my mum likes him too. Don't you think his eyes are really captivating? Like, 桃花眼? (HG's were really obvious in CP1). I've seen a few of his dramas over these years, and I think he's done well in all of them.

They finally released the plot for Bu Bu Jing Qing sequel.

A sequel to the smash hit mainland Chinese television drama, Bu Bu Jing Xin <步步惊心>, also known as Scarlet Heart, has been in the works since the time-traveling drama ended its original broadcast in September 2011. Last year, the drama’s production studio, Chinese Entertainment Shanghai, confirmed that a sequel is definitely in the making. However, rather than making a direct sequel that follows the events of the former, Bu Bu Jing Xin 2 will be a “reboot” of the main characters in an new story line.

Renamed as Bu Bu Jing Qing <步步惊情>, the modern drama will follow the life story of white-collar worker Zhang Xiao. Zhang Xiao was also the name of the main protagonist in Bu Bu Jing Xin, before she traveled back in time to become the royal Ma’ertai Ruoxi.

Other than the name itself to link the two productions together as one franchise, the plot in Bu Bu Jing Qing will not follow events that occurred in the final episode of Bu Bu Jing Xin.

Chinese Entertainment Shanghai disclosed that if all comes according to plan, the drama should be able to begin principal photography after Lunar New Year.

Cecilia Liu (刘诗诗) is confirmed to reprise her role as Zhang Xiao. Original cast member, Nicky Wu (吳奇隆), confirmed his starring appearance as well, disclosing that he has already received Bu Bu Jing Qing’s script. Kevin Cheng’s (鄭嘉穎) return, however, is still unconfirmed. However, the actor is “locked down” to star. Regarding his comeback for filming Bu Bu Jing Qing, Kevin wrote on Weibo, “I want to [film it]. There is definitely a chance to.”

Plot of “Bu Bu Jing Qing”

Bu Bu Jing Qing will center on the kind and intelligent Zhang Xiao, a white-collar worker. By chance, Zhang is hired to work at one of mainland China’s largest companies, the Zhentian Internet Group, in Shanghai. Like most young newcomers in the business circle, Zhang is ostracized by her colleagues, who are jealous of Zhang’s talent. Fortunately, Zhang’s boss Yin Zheng, impressed with Zhang’s natural ability in business, protects her from harm’s way. Zhang and Yin develop a mutual attraction.

Zhang and Yin’s relationship are tested in the waters when she meets the high executive, Kang Sihan. Both Yin and Kang are the possible successors of the Zhentian Group, and Zhang finds herself in the midst of a power struggle in the family business.

TR has confirmed that Liu Shi Shi and Nicky are still the leads of Bu Bu Jing Qing, but Eighth Prince Kevin Cheng will not be participating in BBJQ, as he is filming Jue Ai Zhi Cheng with Jiang Xin.
It is understood that BBJQ has nothing to do with BBJX and neither is the script written by original author Tong Hua. The story told is a modern version of BBJX.

Bu Bu Jing Qing is not a sequel. Rather, it is a modern retelling of Bu Bu Jing Xin.
TangRen CEO Karen Tsoi has recently stated that "BBJQ will start filming early March" and that "it is not a sequel, but a modern version of BBJX, with it's own story." The SARFT file was released online a couple of days ago, with the name being 'Bu Bu Jing Qing/Startling Love with Each Step (literal)'.

The plot has proven Karen's words are true, and apart from the two male leads fighting to be the successor of the famous internet company (similar to Nine Princes fighting for the throne/九龙夺嫡), there is nothing linking this series to Bu Bu Jing Xin.

Fourth Prince and Ruoxi meet again, Eighth Prince has eloped with Consort Hua.
Not only that, this series has nothing to do with Tong Hua. Tong Hua did start drafting a sequel after BBJX, narrating the events that happen after Zhang Xiao returns to the 21st century and meets the true Maertai Ruoxi's soul, but soon stopped due to some unknown reason. Tong Hua has also stated Tangren's Bu Bu Jing Qing has nothing to do with her.

In Bu Bu Jing Xin's last episode, Zhang Xiao is seen meeting a modern version of Fourth Prince. When reporters asked Tangren if this modern drama will follow the events that occur after the meeting, Tangren clearly stated, "There is no time-travelling, no dreams - just a modern story."

The only thing that may have linked BBJX and BBJQ together as one franchise is the cast, but that doesn't seem to be happening. CEO Karen Tsoi has confirmed the leads as Liu Shi Shi and Nicky Wu, but is still organising time schedules with other members of the BBJX cast.
The love triangle between Fourth, Ruoxi and Eighth had fans hooked, but the chance of them reuniting in this drama doesn't seem high. Yesterday reporters contacted Kevin Cheng's promotion manager Ms Han, and she has stated Kevin will be in another production crew with co star Jiang Xin for two months. Apparently Kevin still hasn't received an invitation from Tangren. However, Kevin's schedule is very tight - Kevin stated earlier on that he may miss out on filming BBJQ. Fans have expressed regret, and hope there will be a turn for the better.
