I actually do not think it is that much of a waste. 50 jindans of varying phases wouldnt make that much of a difference to their power levels.

According to Qin Yu’s original estimation, he would have to refine 10 late jindans to reach the late phase of the Nebula stage.

He has refined 32 jindans for the last half year, but they unexpectedly have less energy in total than 10 late jindans. However, because the difference is not very great and, in addition, he has been practicing every day, he now has a feeling that he is going to reach the late phase of the Nebula stage soon.

This was when Qin Yu was at 'peak' middle phase of the Nebula. It is stated here that 32 (early/middle) jindans are worth 10 late jindans.

I also think so. And Hou Fei is definitely itching for a fight. But maybe they still are too close to the ravine. Also maybe there are some green-eye fish around, and most likely some of the xiuyaoists bring a transmitter. Anyway Qin Yu and Hou Fei deem them as not worthy. So since they have shown some courtesy, they just let them go. Maybe their fight won't be interesting anyway, so the author just let them go. An probably there are only one late jindan and the rests are even lower. Fighting them is not that interesting and consuming them takes time but not so much benefit.

I highly doubt it is a matter of effort or time, if they are fast enough to catch all of them without them escaping, then it wouldnt be too difficult or take too much time.

i arrive at that figure from 32 jindan qin yu refine to reach late nebula there're 3 late jindan and the rest 29 between early and middle but the rest 29 still not enough to cover 7 late jindan but according to qin yu that jindan plus his training make him very close to reach late phase so from that sentence i figure he only need 1 or 2 late jindan at most to reach late nebula stage

It's unclear how many late jindans Qin Yu would have needed to push him over to Late Nebula after having already refined those 32 various Jindans.
But just over 50% of an Early YuanYing Cha Ge's yuanying was enough power to reach Late Nebula.
Just the fact that 9 days was needed to refine Cha Ge's yuanying when Qin Yu had already reached Late Nebula must mean that an Early YuanYing must have at the very least 3 times the power of a Late Jindan yuanying... since Qin Yu only needed 3 days to refine a Late Jindan yuanying when he was merely an Early Nebula (3 days to refine the Late Jindan leopard's yuanying).

The power boost from the 50 various Jindan stages guards wouldn't be very useful to Qin Yu or Hou Fei at this point. So the benefit of killing those guards aren't worth the risk of discovery.

The Blood-red Cave’s territory is 8 million li in radius and the Blood-red Ridge is at the center of it. Half of the territory’s Xiuyaoists concentrate in this place so it is obviously much more flourishing and beautiful than many other places at the bottom of the ocean.
