I never saw other versions of CLH/CLX, but I really think the 1984 CLH was on par with Mei Changsu's intelligence and tactical abilities. Of course, the version I saw had not nearly as much blood as Langya Bang, but given that I just re-watched the CLH series last year and when I saw Langya Bang I thought of that 1984 series, I think they are quite on par in terms of brain and strategy.

Yanfeng, thanks a lot for the links. I don't understand Mandarin other than through patchy word-to-word translations online... so I will stick with the English versions.

I read your two fics just now, love them! Particularly the "Subtle" one... totally love it! We need more merry fanfics like that for LYB.

Also, I noticed some punctuation errors for your "The Things We Keep". If you don't mind me... allow me:

It should be "its say" instead of "it's say" for the former refers to possession.

As well as "mocking the passage of time with it's celebration" -- it should be "its celebration", for it's (it is) again a possession.

Other than that, it was a moving piece...

"The Things We Keep" is actually loosely adapted from a scene in a Chinese fanfiction (Xing Xing Zhong Xing Xing) which is incredibly poetic- I cried more from that fanfiction than I did from the actual drama (as did others at this forum who aren't even Shu-Huang fans.)

On Micheal Mui, I see that he's coming back for Legend of the Condor Heroes 2017- which is very exciting. I might watch that just to catch a glimpse of him. I haven't watched much of HK drama in the last 10 years- anything worth watching of his lately?

Finally, don't forget to share your MV here... we don't get as many MV-makers, although on those same c-fanfic sites, it's at least as common as prose and some are very creative.

If you like Jing-Huang, there are a few which mix up LYB cuts with some from the recent modern drama Ode to Joy (where Liu Tao and Wang Kai's characters get some scenes together, although they're not a couple) so that it's implied Jingyan and Nihuang get together in another life.

Yeah, I'm also leaning towards Jing/Huang, but IMO it should be done only years and years after Lin Shu's death. But yes, fire away, provide me links and I will read them in my spare time!

Thanks for the offer of beta and MV. I assume the NIF MV you're talking about? Cos I have many Barbara/Michael MVs, but no NIF MV. I did think of making one of Mei/Huang MV, but I want to finish some posts on LOCH 2017 and another Michael/Barbara MV first...

I will post the NIF MV if ever I get to that. Might need a month or so before I have time to do that.

Re: the Beta, since I'm manning (womaning?) the desk of my own jianghu blog, i might not have time for that. I'd love to, but I don't think I will do justice. But i will come every now and then and provide you feedback in case there's any glaring grammatical or sentence plot gaps. I haven't got time to watch them all, but the first link has a good story. The first time I saw Jingyan rescuing Nihuang from Consort Yue's plan and saw them hugging (Jing/Huang i mean), i started to like them.

But then again, LS/NH was a beautiful, tho bitter sweet story, so I'm still for LS/NH, and then a very slow process for JingHuang years after LS' passing, if any.

Hey all, I'm back to recommend another fanfic (albeit in mandarin again

)

大红猩猩毡's 凤凰于飞 is a very challenging fanfic to read, but the plot is steeped in politics, incredibly creative and intriguing. Best of all Lin Shu, Consort Jing, and Nihuang are given dramatically powerful roles which is very rare in fanfiction. (Shu-Huang lovers may be disappointed since although this is technically a Shu-Huang, it is just as much Jing-Huang and many other non-romantic pairings.)

Huge spoilers below, so I advise those who plan to read this to skip and just give the fic a try!

The spoiler-free summary is that in here Nihuang plays politics with the best of them (e.g., Xie Yu) and so does Mei Changsu... it's all a little hard to understand for a borderline illiterate like me, but what I do understand is super cool!

hahaha! I clicked to your link, Lunar, and tho it's interesting, I think I make better MVs than singing. I can sing, but not very high pitch these days... ^_^ I tried to sing Danny Chan's "Ripples" yesterday, has lots of high notes on it, and I struggled. Geez, to think a decade ago I could easily reach those notes...

For readers who are interested in Chinese fanfics, registering on lofter takes an email address but isn't too difficult and there are at least a half dozen Nihuang-Lin Shu fanfic chapters posted every single day even now, and I estimate there are at least three times as many for Jingyan-Lin Shu and then there's the other ships. This adds up (after all these months) to thousands if not tens of thousands of NIF fanfics. I can't even keep up with reading the titles!

Start with a search of your ship of choice, set the filter to "榜单" and you'll get the greatest hits of all time, set it to "热门" and you'll get the hottest ones of the moment, set it to "最新" and you'll just get the latest.

So for Nihuang-LinShu using the first setting I mentioned gets you a lot of "行行重行行" (my fav Lin Shu-Nihuang fic ever)- even if your mandarin is as awful as mine is, it's totally worth going to dig in there if you like fanfiction!

Back on English fanfics on Archive of Our Own, "In Time, Once Again" translation is done and a group is starting transltion of the novel as well, so go check them out! (Plus I've gotten a few chapters into an alternate history Nihuang-travels-back-in-time to try to fix things fic

).

Hey IMOmusings, welcome back! Sadly other than there is a Season 2 I haven't heard anything... not even whether there will be recurring actors/actresses or characters.

I was quite entertained by watching Ode to Joy since so many of the NIF actors/actresses recurred there though... finding out that "Eunurch Zhao" was married to "Consort Jing" was a particularly gob-smacking moment.
