Once again, I'm not feeling the deep love that KZ has for SYZ.

KZ found out that he truly love Yuzhi, he want to see her may be the last time, and let her know that he actually do love her, However, he is not willing to give up his dream to stay with her, he is not a one woman man (unlike Xu).

Kou is not perfect, and this story is not a love story, hence this is Da Tang Twin Dragon not Condor Couple.

NB. But hey... wuxia is essentially fantasy after all, and I'm continuing to enjoy the story a lot, so carry on, Huang Yi (and our indefatigable translator of course) ...

One said ‘romantic’, the other said ‘I don’t feel the love’. Xiaohu … Jaya, Ysabel, you are welcome. Akolaw, you think ‘Condor Couple’ is love story? Shirak, I think it was Huang Yi who dreamt about that. Patudo, a while back, someone ‘Gulongized’ Jin Yong. I wonder if Huang Yi can also be ‘Gulongized’.

By the time Xu Ziling entered the cabin hall, he saw seven, eight passengers occupying one of the two round tables, talking loudly with each other, so that the hall was very noisy.

Song Yuzhi had no time to argue about his considering himself future son-in-law; she blurted out, “You practically don’t understand what kind of person Die is. Whoever has his name engraved on the whetstone, in the end he might become the wandering soul under his saber. This is not a joke. Ay! At most I can accompany you for three days. But after three days, you must go as far away as possible, and you must never come back.”

Shaking his head, Kou Zhong sighed and said, “If I run away to the wilderness like that, I would forever lose my qualifications to obtain Zhizhi. Do you know why I understand your Die better than Zhizhi? Because we are the same kind of people.”

Song Yuzhi furiously said, “You are reverting to your old ways again.”

Kou Zhong smiled and said, “I am striving to surpass the three days. After obtaining ten percent of Zhizhi’s love, I suddenly regain my life force. I have full confidence for the day I am going to deal with Li kid. Life has never been this good. I wonder if Zhizhi would want to give me a little reward?”

Once again, I'm not feeling the deep love that KZ has for SYZ.

Maybe that's because KZ isn't the classic romantic lead. He's clearly tremendously attracted to Yuzhi, but his world doesn't revolve around her (and she knows it) - he's a man driven by ambition to compete against the likes of Li, desire to destroy Yuwen Huaji, etc., and his life would be unfulfilled without achieving these things or at least giving them his best shot. (Ironically, of course, it's these same qualities that also stir her fascination and interest in him - without them he absolutely wouldn't have a chance.) KZ also treats her more flirtatiously than convention suggests a "hero" should, instead of being all adoring and worshipful. Which, thus far, seems to be the right strategy to push her buttons...

Yes, I think Condor Couple is a love story, a pure love story dress up as a wuxia, the set up and story line are for the love story. JY give the two many difficulties as barriers for them to get together and they overcome it one after another. both have met other boys and girls and both never love any one else.

The two grow up together as hermit in gu mou since the 1st day they met (she was 16 and he, I think 13] JY arrange a lot of adverse situations, Loong leave Yang 4 times for the sake of Yang, she sacrifice herself because she think it would be better for Yang, Sacrifice is LOVE. Yang seek for Loong every time. Yang is the seeker and Loong is the seek. Loong is the religion of Yang. While seeking Loong, he improve his martial arts, made friends and do some xie yi deeds.

The 4th time, both poisoned, Yang refuse to take medicine because there is no medicine for Loong, and 16 years later, when Loong did not show up, he jump off the cliff.

Jin Yung once say the story should end here. However he want to give the couple a happy ending, so there is the reunion and the come out party and they went back to gu mui and live happily there after.

The two never come out again, Guo sheung search for 20 years, and none of Yang's friend ever see him, he did not help Guo for defence of Sung, and no more Xie Yi deeds. all these give way to Loong. this prove that whatever Yang do was he do it while seeking Loong. his main goal is Loong.

You can compare this to Romeo and Juliet, Juliet took medicine and enter in to state of false death, Romeo thought he will not live alone and commit suicide, Juliet woke up and kill herself. Both fatally poisoned, Yang do not want to live alone refuse to be treated while Loong pretend she has been recused and want to meet Yang 16 years later, and since she did not show up, he (try to) kill himself by jump off the cliff, isn't this the Romeo and Juliet type story of wuxia.

My above comment on the two books, Condor Couple, and Heaven Sword Dragon Sabre were based on original version (
Condor Couple 1 chapter per book, Heaven Sword 4 chapter per book) and JY first revised version), there were no such mentioning in these two version, I do not have access to his later revised version, and would like to know it he does made this amendment.

If you read carefully, in condor couple, JY put a lot of couple relationship in comparison.

I mention ISP because he always responds within minutes, so I think he must subscribed to this thread, and receive notification when someone posts an update. I also got the notif, but I always got the notif from 5 mins to 30 after him, since I already used ADSL cable internet with 30MBPS, thus I thought it must be the difference in the DNS the ISP is using.
