Well, all the setting are based on history. About the Song history, the timeline, location, etc.

But there's no Yang Li Qing, Wen Hai Lung, or Wanyen Hao in the real history <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

About the Persian Jew, it's real. There's a huge wave of migration from Persia (the Persian and the Jews) to China during the Tang-Song Dynasty. And Levi is the name of the founder of the first Synagogue built in Kaifeng in 1163 <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> probably he had a blood relation with my Yacov Levi <IMG SRC="smilies/laugh.gif" border="0">

    Anyway, glad to know that you enjoy my story <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/bow.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/bow.gif" border="0">

    Thank you for reading Goofy, Bubeng and lil_bublle <IMG SRC="smilies/bow.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/bow.gif" border="0">

“Madame Flower, stop fighting we have to leave this hall or we will die in vain!” said Elder Lo to Madame Flower. But the woman didn’t want to hear that. She kept on fighting Guo Sing Li and Hai Lung brutally.

Li Qing shouted to the people inside of the hall to leave the room. Knowing that all the people but Hai Lung, Guo Sing Li and Madame Flower who had not left the room, Li Qing decided to enter the main hall. Just as she wanted to enter the hall, three bodied catapulted from the hall. In the same time, one of the pillars of the main hall collapsed.

Madame Flower was wounded on her hand, while Guo Sing Li seemed to have an inner wound.

“Guo Sing Li, we have not finished our problem yet! I will find you wherever you are to take revenge for my daughter,” said Madame Flower. She jumped and left the headquarters in a flash.

Guo Sing Li wound was so bad. Hai Lung and Li Qing knew that Guo Sing Li was hit by a Thousand Flowers Palm.

They had to carry Guo Sing Li back to the cavern.

In the cavern, Ma Wing Sun and Yu Siu Fung were talking and trying to persuade their stubborn naughty girl. The girls stamped her feet and yelled even when her mother had told her that Ma Wing Sun was her real father.

Levi didn’t put attention to them. He read a book while A Yung and A Man only watched them and shook their head. They were surprised as they heard some people entering the cavern.

“Young Master, Master Guo,” said A Yung and A Man. They were more surprised as an old wounded beggar came along with them.

“Li Qing are you okay?” asked Levi as he saw Li Qing’s face full with dust and charcoals.

“I’m okay Levi, but Mr. Guo,” said Li Qing.

“What happened?” asked Ma Wing Sun. Hai Lung explained the details how Mr. Guo was hit by Madame Flower.

“I think that if yesterday you could healed Li Qing, then you must be able to heal Mr. Guo, am I right?” asked Levi.

“You are right Levi, don’t worry!” said Hai Lung, although he knew that now the situation was not the same again.

Guo Sing Li wound was so bad. Actually his wound was even worse than Li Qing’s wound, because Madame Flower used all of her power when she hit Guo Sing Li. He vomited a lot of blood. Li Qing tore her uniform to make a handkerchief and gave it to Guo Sing Li.

“Aiya, even if die, I won’t regret this day!” sighed Guo Sing Li. “I’m so proud that the Beggar Clan, Thousand Swords Clan, and Freedom Party are supporting Song Empire! I believe that even if Wong brothers, the Black Scorpion Sect and those small clans helped the Chin, the Song Empire will survive no matter what!”

“Mr. Guo, you’ll be fine! If you, Mr. Ma and Hai Lung could healed me yesterday, then why we couldn’t heal you this time?” said Li Qing.

“We have to heal him immediately!” said Hai Lung. “Li Qing, you and Mr. Ma transferred your energy to Mr. Guo, while I will pressed his blood points and do the procedure like when I did when I we heal you!”

“Agree! We have to do it now!”said Ma Wing Sun.

That night, all of them but Yu Siu Fung and Wong Qi Lan, didn’t sleep.

Elder Lo was also wounded that Levi had to take care of his wound.

Only after the sunrise Li Qing, Hai Lung and Ma Wing Sun finished. Guo Sing Li was lucky since his life could be saved, although he couldn't fully recovered.

Hai Lung, Li Qing, Levi, Guo Sing Li and the others stayed in the cavern for a few days more to recover their energy and wound. Yu Siu Fung cooked some food from them while A Yung went to the market and bought food stuffs for them.

Levi took care of Elder Lo and later on he could get along well with Elder Lo. Elder Lo liked Levi so much since Levi took care of him carefully and treated him nicely, although Elder Lo was a beggar with a dirty and smelly dress.

Elder Lo was a very smart and patriotic man. Levi liked him and Elder Lo also liked Levi since Levi was a nice and polite man.

One day when Elder Lo saw Levi was walking with Li Qing, Elder Lo called him, “Brown hair come here!”

“Elder Lo, anything I can help?” asked Levi.

“I see that you don’t understand any kungfu!” said Elder Lo. “It’s too bad, since you have a very good bone structure,” said Elder Lo and he touched Levi’s bone on his shoulder and arms.

“Well, I can use my swords, so it’s not really important for me to know kungfu,” said Levi.

“Hmm! But young man, if you don’t know any kungfu, I’m afraid that your girlfriend will knock your head when she’s angry with you someday!” Elder Lo laughed and teased Levi.

Levi smiled while Li Qing blushed and she lowered her head.

“I see that you have a very good bone structure! You can be a good kungfu fighter,” said Elder Lo again. “I hope you won’t refuse if I teach you Tah Kauw Pang Hoat (the Dog Beating Stick Style) to protect yourself!”

“Tah Kauw Pang Hoat (the Dog Beating Stick Style) is one of the most powerful kungfu in the martial art. Elder Lo, it is a great honor for Levi to learn from you!” said Li Qing.

“Levi, give salute to your teacher now!” said Li Qing to Levi. Levi was a little bit confused and didn’t know what to say.

“Thank you Elder Lo!” said Levi. He didn’t have any clue about how he’s going to learn the Dog Beating Stick style from Elder Lo.

“Actually the Dog Beating Stick Style consists of 36 strokes, and it can only be passed on Beggar Clan leaders. But I see that you are a very kind man, and you have to help Miss Yang also, that’s why I only teach you 27 from 36 strokes of this kungfu style,” said Elder Lo.

“Elder Lo, actually you don’t have to teach me. If you teach me the kungfu, you did something forbidden by your clan,” said Levi.

“You are right. But I have to teach you this, since you need to protect Miss Yang to get the treasure on the map. Say no more! I know what to do,” said Elder Lo raised his hand showed that he had made his mind that he wanted to teach Levi the Dog Beating Stick Style.

“I better leave you both here so you can teach Levi now, Elder Lo!” said Li Qing and left Levi and Elder Lo alone.

“You see.. She’s eager to see you mastered a little bit kungfu!” said Elder Lo.

The whole day Elder Lo taught Levi the Dog Beating Stick style. It’s not easy for Levi to learn it since he had no basic in kungfu at all.

    ......to be continued.

Well..so nobody will protest to me that Levi couldn't protect Li Qing since he didn't know any kungfu <IMG SRC="smilies/rofl.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/rofl.gif" border="0">

LOL!! That never occurred to me! I think it's b/c he was taking great care of her when she was ill and they were never in need of using kungfu to protect each other (except to cure her). So is Levi going to be a top martial arts fighter now? heh heh... <IMG SRC="smilies/tongue.gif" border="0">

Comments after Reading Sunset in/on the Silk Road

Apart from the grammar mistakes, typos, wrong use of propositions, overall an interesting story to read. BTW, are you Jewish as you seem to know so much Jewish terms and Jewsih history?

Where can I find info about Jews in China?

Initially I found it a bit hard to read, especially the first few chapters as there was no spacing and no paragraphs to I found it hard to follow the story. But when spacing and paragraphs started, I could pick up the story more easily.

My favourite characters so far? I can only say it's Yang Li Qing. Stubborn, forthright and fearless, she gets my vote as the most outstanding character and she outshines other characters.

Sorry but I personally don't like Wen Hai Lung or Yakov Levi (don't get me wrong, I'm not anti-Semite). They come across as a bit "wimpy" and a bit wishy-washy like Zhang Wu Ji in The Heavenly Sword and Sabre.

Who would Yang Li Qing go with in the end? My money's on Wen Hai Lung but it's up to Andrea to decide whom Yang Li Qing ends up with (Or not even at all?? <IMG SRC="smilies/evillaugh.gif" border="0"> )

Whom do I hate most? Wang Yan Hao, reminds me of modern day politicians who have an amazing ability to make their follies into miracles and make someone else the scape goat for their crimes.

(90% of Politics is finding somebody else to blame, as quoted by a writer from NEWSWEEK)

Now for some history lessons and ranting
    ! <IMG SRC="smilies/lecture.gif" border="0">

Andrea, if you're talking about Persia, you're actually referring to an Empire that was founded by Indo-European tribes who settled in what is present day Iran 2000-1700 BC.

Did the Persia Empire still exist in 1163 AD? I don't think so. The Persian Empire already had been obliterated by Alexander the Great by 331BC. (1400 years before the events in "Sunset in the Silk Road" takes place)

For those interested in finding out more about Persia, go to these sites
    (1) http://www.historyforkids.org/greekc...2/yourpage.htm ( for kids!)
    (2) http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/ancient/asbook05.html

So Andrea, when you're talking about persian Jews, are you actually referring to Jews who were originally from the long gone Persian Empire.

Remember at this time, Moslem influence was very strong in this region (Iran, Iraq). King David's empire had already disintergrated by then and most of the Holy Land were under Islamic (mainly the Turks) rule.

That's what set off the Crusade Wars first starting in 1095 when Pope Urban appealed to the Christian Knights of Europe to save the Holy Land (Jerusalem)

well who cares! <IMG SRC="smilies/noidea.gif" border="0"> This is fanfic, not !fact-fiction

Enough ranting and squawking and wing flapping by the Giant Eagle. On with the story!

The Persian Empire didn't exist at that time. I pointed Persia as the territory (not Persian Empire)...the modern Iran, which at that time was reign by the Turkish. The Persian, had a deep root and their self pride, they still called their land Persia at that time..and even now, the Iranian called themself Persian. The Jews settlement were widespread on the Persian territory at that time (modern Iran, Iraq, Yemen, etc).
And one of the main reason why there were a lot of migration by the Persian Jews to China (Kaifeng) at that time was because they wanted to avoid the Islamic law. Actually the Persian Jews had already migrate in China since 200 BCE...but the largest migration happened during the Tang and Song Dynasty. They founded their first synagogue in Kaifeng in 1163 CE. And the Jews existency in China was also admitted by the Chinese rulers at that time. History mentioned that there were a lot of Kaifeng Jews who become officers during the Song Dynasty. Some historian event made a speculation and theory that Judge Bao, was probably a Kaifeng Jew (His house is decorated with Star of David, the Jewish symbol, etc). There's an interesting article about it...I will try to find out for you if possible.

Andrea, got time to read your fanfic again.

I am glad that Levi is turning into a martial artist. Would that mean he would be a bit closer to Li Qing? <IMG SRC="smilies/love.gif" border="0">

The best slimy, conniving character in this story is Wang Yang Hao.

The conversation between him and the Beggar Clan leader sounded very real and realistic.

Andrea, you should be a speech writer for the politicians. Not a fanfic writer

Bubeng: in the Tang and Song era, females had some rights to choose their husband also. They even had a right to divorce their husband...especially if the females from noble family! <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

    ==========

In the pavilion, Li Qing and Hai Lung were sitting and discussed about calligraphy. Hai Lung was a scholar and mostly he brought his calligraphy tools with him all the time. Li Qing admired Hai Lung’s talent in literature. They both talked for hours.

“Brother Wen, Sister Yang, the food is ready!” said Wong Qi Lan who suddenly appeared in front of Hai Lung and Li Qing.

Li Qing said nothing and just nodded. She still angry with Qi Lan since last time the girl spit her food on her face.

“Thank you Miss Wong, eh..sorry Miss Ma!” said Hai Lung smiled. Hai Lung said that since the night before Ma Wing Sun announced to them that Wong Qi Lan’s name now became Ma Qi Lan. Hai Lung never thought that his word would bring him trouble.

Qi Lan was very angry when she heard Hai Lung said the word “Miss Ma’. She took Hai Lung’s ink on the table and she intended to pour the ink to Hai Lung’s head. Luckily before the ink poured, Li Qing saw it and she slapped Qi Lan’s hand that she missed her target. As a result the ink spoilt on her own dress.

“Wicked girl! What did Hai Lung’s fault that you want to pour the ink to him?” asked Li Qing angrily.

“Huh, you both are laughing at me behind my back, aren’t you? You say that to make fun of me since I’m a love child of my mother and that man right?” barked Qi Lan.

“Hai Lung said nothing but it was you who had a bad prejudice!” said Li Qing.

Hai Lung didn’t know what to say while the girls quarreled. Qi Lan slapped Li Qing’s cheek, in return Li Qing also lost her patient. She caught Qi Lan’s hand and twisted her hand. Qi Lan cried as Li Qing twisted her hand and didn’t want to release it.

“Release me, or I will ask my father to slash you into pieces!” shouted Qi Lan.

Li Qing laughed when she heard that. So she snubbed Qi Lan and asked, “Which father you mean? Your father whose name is Wong Man Siu is busy with his ruin headquarters, while your another father has told me not to be too patient to ungrateful spoilt brat like you!”

“Li Qing, better for you to release her! No use for you to deal with a wild girl like that,” said Hai Lung.

“Yes, I’m wild, ungrateful, brat, and also a bastard daughter! What else?” asked Qi Lan angrily and cried.
Li Qing took pity on her. So she released her hand and started to soothe Qi Lan.

“Hey little sister, I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to hurt you! But you were very naughty and you almost poured that ink to Hai Lung. I can’t let you do that!” said Li Qing gently.

“Come on, don’t cry!” said Li Qing. She took a handkerchief from her pocket and tried to dried Qi Lan’s eyes. She never thought that when her fingers almost touched Qi Lan’s eyes, Qi Lan’s teeth bite her wrist.

“Ah,!!!!!” Li Qing screamed and pulled her hand from Qi Lan. He wrist bled some blood. While Qi Lan still with her teary eyes, looked at Li Qing with satisfy eyes.

    “You!” said Li Qing.

“Don’t!” said Hai Lung and he used his folding fan to protect Qi Lan. He was worry that Li Qing would use her strength to slap Qi Lan. In case if she did that, Qi Lan would surely die, since Li Qing had a good inner power.

“Li Qing, what’s wrong?” asked Elder Lo and Levi who heard Li Qing screamed.

“Your hand bleed,” said Levi. He slowly held Li Qing’s hand to calm her down. “Let me bandage your wound first!”

Li Qing said nothing and followed Levi.
In the mean time, Qi Lan realized that Hai Lung just protected her. She regretted that she act rudely just now.

“Let’s go back to the pavillion and eat!” said Hai Lung. His face showed that he’s angry with Qi Lan.

Li Qing and Levi were already in the pavilion. Ma Wing Sun, Yu Siu Fung, Guo Sing Li and Elder Lo also there and sat around the table on the pavilion.

Ma Wing Sun said nothing. He felt sorry and pity that his daughter was not only naughty, but also she had a wicked character. On the other hand, Yu Siu Fung loved her daughter so much that no matter right or wrong, her daughter always right. That’s why Yu Siu Fung hated Li Qing since Qi Lan said bad things about Li Qing to her mother.

“Let’s eat,” said Elder Lo laughed.

They were all ate without saying anything. Until suddenly Li Qing opened her mouth and asked Guo Sing Li. “Mr. Guo, how’s your wound?” asked Li Qing.

“I’m getting better and better. I really have to say thank you to you, Brother Ma and Hai Lung,” said Guo Sing Li.

“It’s okay Brother Guo,” said Ma Wing Sun. “Besides, for many years I’ve done bad things with Black Scorpion Sect. Now after I can reunite with my wife and daughter, I decide not to return to Black Scorpion Sect again,” said Ma Wing Sun seriously.

Everybody was surprised as they heard that.

“What do you plan, Mr. Ma?” asked Hai Lung.

“I intend to join Mr. Guo and Elder Lo to work hand in hand together to protect our Song Empire,” said Ma Wing Sun.

“Good decision Brother Ma,” said Elder Lo and Guo Sing Li almost in the same time. They were all happy with Ma Wing Sun’s decision.

“Since Mr. Guo is getting better, I would like to ask your permission to leave tomorrow,” said Li Qing.

“What? Why?” asked Guo Sing Li, Ma Wing Sun and Hai Lung almost in the same time. Levi said nothing since Li Qing had told him her plan.

“No you can’t leave tomorrow!” said Elder Lo. “I haven’t finished teach Levi! Unless if you want to go alone without my pupil! But I think that you won’t do that, will you?”

“So I will wait until you finish teaching Levi,” said Li Qing.

    ===================

“Miss Yang, I need to talk to you!” said Guo Sing Li that evening when he saw Levi, Li Qing and Hai Lung were sitting and chatting on the pavilion.

Li Qing followed Guo Sing Li and they talked

“Your father is now in BianJing. I think that you should go directly to BianJing after everything is settled,” said Guo Sing Li. Guo Sing Li knew that Yang Li Qing had already got the map.

“Honestly I’m worry about your safety. Actually nobody knows that the map is already in your hand. But on the full moon meeting Hai Lung fought Madame Flower and Wong Man Siu, and your burnt their headquarters, I’m really worry that they will take revenge to you both!” said Guo Sing Li.

“Don’t worry Mr. Guo, we’ll be fine. We didn’t no anything crime. You and Hai Lung fought brutal bandits, while I burnt robbers and bandits’ headquarters. At least Heaven won’t do anything unfair to those who didn’t mistreat other people,” said Li Qing and smiled.

Guo Sing Li forced himself to smile.
“But life is always unfair. Sometimes even if you are very honest and kind; bad things can happen to you!” said Guo Sing Li.

“Yeah, like Qi Lan and I! I always try to be nice to her. But she always makes me angry. If Hai Lung didn’t use his fan to stop me, probably I’ve already broke her jaw and teeth,” said Li Qing sighed. “Sometimes I can’t control my emotion and act childish. I’m sorry!”

“No way! That’s good Miss Yang. You know that you can’t control your emotion sometimes. It means you know yourself. And that means that you are not childish,” said Guo Sing Li.

“Thank you Mr. Guo,” said Li Qing.

“You are a nice girl Miss Yang. If only that Hoa Li Hoa was a nice girl like you… I wouldn’t have to kill her,” said Guo Sing Li with sad voice.

“Who is Hoa Li Hoa?” asked Li Qing.

“Hoa Lie Hoa was my girlfriend. She’s Madame Flower’s daughter. Something on your face reminds me of her… although you and she are not similar,” said Guo Sing Li.

Introducing the Jewish characters like Levi and Micha is a fresh, new idea for a wuxia story <IMG SRC="smilies/bow.gif" border="0">

Don't know for certain why, but I kind of like the Micha character. Hope this character will have an interesting development. Oh yes, and more <IMG SRC="smilies/ninja.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/smash.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/starwars.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/guns.gif" border="0"> (fighting scenes) please <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

Andrea, please let me give another comment.

When Wen Hai Lung first met Wong Chi Lan, they had a disagreement, and so Hai Lung ran away and was chased by Chi Lan. Please look at the part in your wuxia story that goes as follow, "Hai Lung never thought that although the girl had a low kungfu skills, but she had a high ginkang. She easily could chase Hai Lung. After awhile, then Hai Lung and the girl were now confronting."

Next, Hai Lung met Chi Lan in another restaurant/inn for the second time. Please look at the part in your wuxia story that goes as follow, "Wong Chi Lan tried to chase Hai Lung. Too bad for her that her ginkang was not as good as Hai Lung. Just in a few minutes she lost Hai Lung’s traces."

What I want to say is that there seems to be a contradiction. On the first meeting both Hai Lung and Chi Lan seemed to have the same or rather similar level of lightness kungfu, but on the second meeting it seems that Hai Lung's lightness kungfu was much better than Chi Lan's. Could it be that Hai Lung's lightness kungfu improved a lot since his first meeting with Chi Lan?

Basically Hai Lung's ginkang skills are very high, and only a few people can be compared to him. That Wong Qi Lan could chase him (at the first time Hai Lung thought that he could easily ran away from Qi Lan that's why he only use some part of his skills)was a rare thing, especially because Qi Lan didn't have a good kungfu skill. At the second meeting...Hai Lung no longer under estimate the girl...he use all his ginkang skill to escape from that annoying girl <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

    Anyway..thanks for reading Rabadi <IMG SRC="smilies/bow.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/bow.gif" border="0"> your comments are very much appreciated!

I will make some more <IMG SRC="smilies/starwars.gif" border="0"> scene. Anyway..would you like to help me with the fighting scene? <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> I mean..I'm not good in describing the fighting scene <IMG SRC="smilies/frown.gif" border="0">

“Your girlfriend is Madame Flower’s daughter?” asked Li Qing disbelieved her ears. “But I heard that you’re the one who killed Madame Flower’s daughter. Does it mean that you killed your own girlfriend?”

“Yes. I killed my own lover,” said Guo Sing Li with sad voice. “She was my girlfriend. But she had a very bad attitude. Behind my back, she often kidnapped and raped young handsome men. Not only that made me jealous, but she’s very cruel also….” said Guo Sing Li with a sad low voice. “She could kill someone easily without feeling guilty…. Like killing a mouse!”

“So you killed her. And no one knows your relationship with her, so people just think that you killed her because she’s a wicked girl."

“Yes. A few years ago I killed her with my own hand. Actually I didn’t want to kill her. But when I told her that I wanted to forgive her, and I asked her not to do anything evil again; she attacked me with a very brutal fist. If I didn’t stab my sword on her body, then today my soul must not rest in peace. Just like Wong Qi Lan…she’s an ungrateful, wild and wicked girl,” said Guo Sing Li again.

“But I have a feeling that the girl can be educated,” said Li Qing smiled. “But not her father or mother who can educate her…I think that only Hai Lung can turn her into a good nice girl!” Li Qing grinned as she said that.

“Haha! You are right Miss Yang. Hmm, I also saw that girl when we ate just now… she starred at Hai Lung without blinking her eyes,” said Guo Sing Li laughed. “I think that she will do anything what Hai Lung say from now on!”

“Yes. I also think so!” said Li Qing smiled.

“Anyway, Hai Lung is a very nice young man. And he’s handsome also. I don’t know why you prefer to hang around with the brown haired man than with Hai Lung,” said Guo Sing Li again.

“What’s wrong with that? He’s not Chinese, but he’s not bad and okay..I guess!” said Li Qing disliked what she just heard.

“Stubborn girl! What will your father say if he see you so intimate with that brown haired man. And I can see his lust eyes every time when he touched your hands,” said Guo Sing Li.

Li Qing’s face blushed as she heard that. “Levi is not that kind of person!”

“Hiya… you’re still very young. What do you know?” said Guo Sing Li with frustrating voice. “Why don’t you like Hai Lung? Isn’t he handsome and nice?”

“Yes, he is. He’s handsome, smart, nice and….” Li Qing didn’t continue her word since suddenly Levi and Hai Lung walked approached them both. Her cheeks blushed and she hoped that Levi or Hai Lung didn’t hear that conversation.

“You both were talking about me?” said Hai Lung laughed.

Meanwhile when they talked, they saw a kind of firecracker in the dark of the night. The firecracker had a strange blue color and it also cause a blue smoke that can be seen even in the dark.

Levi was surprised and he saw that firecracker. He knew that it wasn’t an ordinary firecracker. His troupe used that firecracker to find missing person. Using that firecracker, they will be able to locate the distant between the troupe and the other missing person.

“Are they looking for me? Or someone is missing?” asked Levi curiously. Now he knew that his troupe was a few miles from his current location.

“That firecracker is made by my troupe,” said Levi. He pulled a firecracker from his pocket and released the firecracker to the sky. Levi did that to show his troupe his position. Using that signal he wanted to show his troupe that he was fine and his location was not far away from the troupe.

“I hope they are fine,” said Li Qing.

A few minutes after Levi released his firecracker, another firecracker appeared. Levi smiled when he saw that.

“What’s the meaning, Brother?” asked Hai Lung.

“My troupe are fine and they expect me to return to them as soon as possible. I think they are not far from here!” said Levi.

“I think we should go and meet them as soon as you finish your kungfu lessons with Elder Lo,” said Li Qing.

“I’ll go with you both!” said Hai Lung. Levi smiled, but deep inside his heart he’s a little bit jealous with Hai Lung since in this last few days Hai Lung and Li Qing always be together, while he had to practice kungfu.

“Master Guo, Master Ma, Elder Lo, we have something important to tell you,” said Hai Lung during a dinner a few days later, after Levi had finished his lessons with Elder Lo.

“What is that Young Master Wen?” said Ma Wing Sun. He and his lover, Yu Siu Fung liked Hai Lung since he’s a nice, polite, and a scholar young man. The couple tried to matchmaking their daughter, Qi Lan to Hai Lung. Having a son in law like Hai Lung was something worth, since not only he’s a handsome young man, but also he’s a smart scholar and a son of a minister.

“Me, Li Qing an Levi will leave the day after tomorrow,” said Hai Lung.

“So soon?” asked Yu Siu Fung. Qi Lan’s face become cloudy since she felt hard to separate with Hai Lung. Basically since the first time they met, Qi Lan already liked Hai Lung. She became more and more like Hai Lung after that young man protected her from Li Qing’s hand a few days before. Now she would have to separate from Hai Lung made her sad.

“I hope that after you meet Levi’s troupe you can go to BianJing and meet us there,” said Elder Lo. “We plan to held a secret meeting among heroes and Beggar Clans to help our Song Empire. If you can attend the meeting that will be good, since you can be a bridge between the martial art society and the government,” explained Elder Lo again.

“I agree with Elder Lo,” said Guo Sing Li. “Currently there’s no communication between the government and the martial art world, and that makes both sides feel suspicious toward one another. But now, young generation from high rank officers, one is the son of Minister Wen, the other one is a daughter of General Yang, both are involved in martial art world and also in government. This is a very good tendency,” said Guo Sing Li.

“Miss Yang is…a daughter of General Yang?” asked Ma Wing Sun with disbelieved voice.

Li Qing only nodded. She’s a little bit displeased since Guo Sing Li disclosed her identity.

“Miss Yang, no wonder that you are a brave girl. You are very similar like your father,” said Elder Lo with happy voice.

“Hey, you know my father?” asked Li Qing curiously.

“Well, next time when you meet your father, tell him that Elder Lo have taught his son in law the Dog Beating Stick Style, and Elder Lo wants to be treated the best wine from Hangzhou,” said Elder Lo laughed.

Li Qing’s face blushed since she knew that Elder Lo was teasing her. Levi said nothing and grinned.

“Miss Yang, you have to be very careful, since Wong Man Siu and Madame Flower are trying to catch you because you are Liu Chin Kang’s pupil,” said Ma Wing Sun.

“I know, thanks!Let’s eat and don’t discuss about this now,” said Li Qing. She cut the conversation since she didn’t really trust Ma Wing Sun. She was afraid that Guo Sing Li would disclose more secret about her. Lucky for Li Qing that Hai Lung didn’t say anything to Guo Sing Li that she had already got the map.

Two days after it, Hai Lung, Li Qing and Levi were ready to go. A Yung and A Man, Hai Lung’s servants followed Guo Sing Li and Elder Lo to return to BianJing. Ma Wing Sun, Yu Siu Fung and Qi Lan also go with them.

“With these horses, I’m sure we can meet your troupe just in a day,” said Hai Lung. He admired the Persian horses which bigger than the average horses which existed in China that time.

“You go in the chariot, I will be the coachman,” said Levi to Hai Lung and Li Qing after they all said goodbye to Guo Sing Li, Elder Lo, and the others.

During the trip, Levi had to be a coachman, since Hai Lung couldn’t coach the Persian horses.

Levi couldn’t help his jealousy with Hai Lung since he could hear that Li Qing and Hai Lung were chatting and laughing when they were in the chariot.

“Hai Lung, Li Qing, I think tonight we should make a camp here,” said Levi after they reached a green pasture. “I can’t continue this trip, it’s almost Shabat in less than two hours,” said Levi again. “I think we should set up a tent here now!”

“Okay, no problem,” said Li Qing. Hai Lung didn’t understand why they had to stop their journey while the sun had not set. Li Qing had to explain to Hai Lung that they Yutai people are not allowed to do any work or make a travel on Shabat (start from Friday nightfall until Saturday nightfall).

“Hey Li Qing, I’m proud of you! You can explain to Hai Lung about the Shabat briefly,” said Levi. He always felt happy if Li Qing knew and wanted to learn anything related with his culture.

They set up a small tent to sleep. Since they only had one small tent, Li Qing decided to sleep on the chariot, while Hai Lung and Levi slept on the tent.

That nightfall, Li Qing saw Levi recited some prayers from his book.

“Levi why do you have to be so religious?” asked Li Qing after Levi finished.

Levi sighed. He didn’t know how to answer. For him, his religion was part of his life, while Li Qing hardly could understand that.

“Li Qing, someday you will know how a religion is very important in our life,” said Levi smiled. Actually he wanted to grip Li Qing’s hands and kiss them. But he knew that he couldn’t do that, especially there’s Hai Lung with them, and he didn’t want Hai Lung to had a bad image on Li Qing.

“Thank you Levi,” said Li Qing smiled. “Anyway tomorrow after Shabat is over, you have to shave your beard,” said Li Qing blinked an eye to Levi.

Levi stood and said nothing. He felt happy since he knew that Li Qing liked him. But his face began cloudy as he remembered Li Qing’s previous statement about his religion. He decided to read his Torah (Jewish holy bible) and left Li Qing and Hai Lung alone.

“Li Qing, last time I heard from Mr. Guo that your father is now in BianJing. Don’t you think it is great, that we don’t have to go to Hangzhou to submit the map, but we can directly go to BianJing and meet my father and your father there,” said Hai Lung.

“Yes you are right. But honestly I’m really worry,” said Li Qing with low voice. “I’m afraid that my father will be very angry with me. I ran away from our house on my engagement day!”

“What?” asked Hai Lung disbelieved his ears.

Li Qing frowned and she explained to Hai Lung about her condition.

Hai Lung said nothing at first but then later on he sighed. “You are a brave girl. I can’t say anything. But I really admire your courage Li Qing. As for me, probably if I were you… I couldn’t do that since I’m too afraid to disappoint my parents,” said Hai Lung.

“Oh, then if you were me… you will just obey what your parents told you?” asked Li Qing. “It is your life, and it is supposed to be you who determine your life, not your parents or anybody!”

“You are right. But, my parents are the one who give me life…how can I disobey and disrespect my parents then?” asked Hai Lung back. “I’m sure that your parents chose the best man for your …he wouldn’t give you a bad man for your husband. Your candidate husband is a respectable man. I’m sure that your parents had considered that before they accept their wedding proposal,” said Hai Lung again.

Li Qing frowned. “Obey and respect your parents doesn’t mean that you have to do all things they told you, right? Let me give you an example: if suddenly your father Minister Wen compromise with the Chin and the corruptor and he told you to be a corruptor also. Will you obey him and be a corruptor and a traitor for your country?”

“I will obey and respect my parents as long as it is not contradicting with my belief, my value and my conscience,” said Hai Lung.

“Hmm, interesting! So what is your belief, value and conscience?” asked Li Qing.

“As for me, being a wife of someone I can’t love and respect is a hypocrisy and I can’t stand it. It’s better for me to die than to marry someone I dislike,” said Li Qing with high tone. “So run away from my parent’s house is something consistent with my conscience. And I don’t want you to look at me with that accusing eyes,” said Li Qing. She felt that Hai Lung was accusing her to be a bad daughter since she ran away from her parent’s house.

“I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to insult you. If you think that is the best way for you, then you should do it no matter what!” said Hai Lung. He knew now how principled and stubborn the girl was.

Just as they chatted, they heard two horses were galloped approaching them.

“Be alert!” said Hai Lung to Li Qing.

Andrea, just want to let you know that I keep reading your fanfic. Helping you with the fighting scenes? Not to sure I can help you with that (I do not even have a fanfic of my own to begin with <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> ), and I think much more experienced writers like WhiteKrane, Goofy, and Floo.. will be in a much better position than me to help <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

Hmm..rabadi...honored that you've included me in the list of experienced writers but...I don't think so. Judging from the readers and frequent return of the readers to Goofy, Charbydis, Floo, and Andrea7974's fanfic...they're more of experienced and popular writers here.

I still lack the writing skills that attracts readers and keep them. But I guess I'll keep on writing and perhaps...one of these days the chapters will be more intriguing. <IMG SRC="smilies/bang.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/coffee.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/read.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/rant.gif" border="0">

White Krane: Have you heard the saying "saving the best for last?" I haven't started reading your fanfic, not because I don't like them. I'm waiting till there's a lot to read, and also I'm limiting the amount of fanfic that I read, because I get mixup with the story, what characters goes with what story.
So please keep on writing. <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">
