Oh, don't worry about it. I was able to find them again at Sina's website. Only short one picture. I'm still trying to look for it, but it's not too big a deal.

What's the series about? Is it worth watching?

Have you heard or seen TVB's famous series Shang Hai Tan back in the early 80's starring Zhou Run Fa? Back then it was a very famous series about Shang Hai's 30's era. Zhou Run Fa starred as Xu Wen Qiang and became very famous with it and now Jiao Zhu is starring the same role Zhou Run Fa did.

Here I'll repost the small summary I gathered from the news reports because I also haven't seen it and posted in post #1172.

Xu Wen Qiang was a patriot. He joined the student movement against Japanese's occupation and was arrested. After released, he changed and wanted to make name for himself. By chance he got to know and became best friend with Ding Li, whom grew up in a poor community. Both of them joined the Hei She Hui. Later on, by coincedence, Xu Wen Qiang happen to save Feng Cheng Cheng and joined her father's corperate. With the help of ex-lover, both of them earned Feng Cheng Cheng's father's trust (don't remember his name) and thus made names for themselves in ShangHai. Both Xu Wen Qiang and Ding Li fall in love with Feng Cheng Cheng at first sight. Feng Cheng also love Xu Wen Qiang but none of them disclose their feelings to each other and thus created a complicated love story between the three of them. Later on, Xu Wen Qiang discovered that Feng Cheng Cheng's father cooperates with the Japanese therefore Xu Wen Qiang secretly sabotaged his schemes. He discover that it was Xu Wen Qiang who sabotaged him and thus ordered killing Xu. Xu ran to Hong Kong and met and fall in love with a local poor girl there. He decided to marry her and stay in Hong Kong and leave the past behind. On the other hand, Feng Cheng Cheng also married Ding Li. Cheng Cheng's father would not let Xu go and had his wife and her whole family killed when Xu was not at home. Xu swore to revenge and returned to ShangHai. In the end, Xu Wen Qiang killed Cheng Cheng's father but he himself was also gunned down by her father's people.

The director said that they will change the story line quite a bit, and Xu Wen Qiang's personalities will also be somewhat different.

Right now, Xu's ending fate in this new remake is still unclear. It's still not clear whether they will keep the same ending and let Xu die, or to make him able to leave the gangster life and start over.
I personally also like this kind of story so I think it will be worth watching. Actually, I look forward to this one the most at the moment. Unfortunately, there's still a long way to go before it's released.

Have you seen the photos from the link I posted? If you have, what do you think so far?

I saw the photos but I couldn't really gather much about the movie from them. I'll try to get my hands on it this summer when I'm China.

This summer? I don't think it will be able to be release by then. They only plan to finish filming in the end of May. After that, I think it will take at least another half a year before it's release. So, maybe next summer if you'll be in China again?

You're so lucky. I really wish that I can go to China as well. It had been my long time dream.

... It's seriously going to take that long? ): I thought they'd already finished filming since you guys made it sound like you had already seen it. My bad.

I go back every once in a while to visit family. It's so much fun. I love it.

I like it best when HXM doesn't try too hard to be cool and is just cool naturally. anyone of you here watch ROCH already beside Chaule? Want to discuss about HXM's portrayal of YG separately over here?

Sure, I've watched it. I'm not done with it but I'm getting there...
I think he looks the part. But I have to say though... he does a spectacular job of making me cringe everytime he laughs.

Eversince the fans gave Jiao Zhu the tuxedo set, I've been longing to see him wearing it. Jiao Zhu said that even though he might not have the chance to wear it in Xin Shang Hai Tan, he'll definitely choose an important occasion to wear it. Not long ago, heard Jiao Zhu finally wore it during a magazine interview and I had been wishing to be able to see it. Now, the interview is finally published and the fans posted those pictures up at his website and I'm posting them here to share with everyone. Both Jiao Zhu and the suit looked extremely great. Enjoy, .
