It's not that Yu PeiYu is weak, it's just that these guys are really, REALLY good.

Besides, he wasn't able to use all his styles because he didn't want to be recognized.

He just picked up on the idea of essence over form not too long ago, so it's natural that he's still learning to be adept at it. He can learn and come up with things pretty quick, but maybe not as quick as he needs to when he's in the heat of battle with highly skilled opponents. But all things considered, he's been holding up pretty well.

Well, he seems to only be able to execute with a sword implement right now. He was able to use a sword skill without actually using the sword skill and thus releasing the intention of the stance without actually using the stance. He could then actually counter with what he knows without using the stance he intended. Right now he's just making up moves to desperately stay alive.

I do not believe formlessness mean randomness. I think it's when you don't depend on stances to get your results. Sword intention. To unleash the power of a stance without using the stance.

Thx Athena for another two updatess. A Pleasure to read hilarious as well as near top fighers duke it out. Don't want top fighers becuz of the one stroke thing: very anticlimatic

is that related in any way to Lu Xiao Feng or was that fabricated for the 80's series? cos I remember LXF had something like Phoenix dances through the ninth heaven as his special move in that series

The 'Fong Wu Jiu Tian' is an official Lu Xiaofeng thingie - it's the title of his sixth book (sixth or seventh, not sure which one comes first - "God of Sword" or "Phoenix Dances through the Nine Heavens", and that's assuming 'Phantom Mansion' is the fifth). Not sure if it referred to his wugong or not, though.

The 80s TVB series wasn't even half-accurate to the books (at least through the Embroidery Thief arc), although I'll need to read the last two books to see how far it deviates. The 80s series skips book 1, plays around with and modifies book 2, skips book 3 (in fact, puts it as a prologue at the beginning so that Ye Gucheng is already dead before Jin Jiuling appears), skips book 4 (at least I don't remember an Iron Hook Casino or Fang Yuxiang, FangYufei in the series), and skips book 5 as well - there definitely wasn't a Laodao Bazi or Wooden Priest in the series.

My guess is that the series only used plots from book 2, 6 and/or 7, and hence isn't too accurate.

My dream? That TVB or ATV would make a series with Books 1, 2 and 3, ending with Ye Gucheng's death in the Forbidden City, and pair Lu Xiaofeng with Ouyang Qing. Book 4 was just too depressing for me - all those lovely girls, and all of them died. If they used the 70s theme song it would be an even bigger bonus. Just a dream... =(

Never meant randomness. I believe he could do the same thing with or without a device (executing intention of form w.o. using a stance), but he is facing much tougher opponents now and his ability isn't at a proficient level yet where he could come up with it fast enough.

Yu Peiyu felt sorry for the old woman and saw she could hardly walk anymore. So he said very friendly to her:"If you don't mind I will carry you on my back and I will take you back to your home."
The old woman was very happy and asked:"Are you really willing to....."
Yu Peiyu said respectfully:"If my grandmother was still alive I know she will love her pets very much too."
The old woman laughed very happily and on their way back to her house she kept praising Yu Peiyu. She said that he was a very good boy and his future bride can consider herself very lucky. Yu Peiyu blushed.
When they entered the town, Yu Peiyu asked:"Where do you live?"
The old woman said:"It's very easy to find my house, my house is there...... next to the inn....."

The old man, Feng San had a bit of colour in his cheeks again and Zhu Lei'Er looked happy.
Yu Peiyu said loudly:"I found an old Madame outside the town, she is ill and need to see a doctor. And I couldn't leave her to die on the streets."
Guo Pianxian frowned, Silver Blossom was sitting there and looked tired and indifferent. Feng San was still resting, Zhu Lei'Er walked over and asked:"Old Madame, are you feeling ill? Let me take a look......."
Suddenly Zhu Lei'Er backed away from Yu Peiyu and the old woman, she turned pale and looked like she just saw a ghost.
The old woman said weakly:"Miss, please take my pulse. I feel so weak, help me."
Zhu Lei'Er stuttered:"Granny Hu........granny Hu......You're granny Hu....."
When Guo Pianxian heard the name [granny Hu] he wanted to storm out of here at once.
Yu Peiyu was very much afraid but because his father had told him that the most evil woman in this world was granny Hu.
Granny Hu was one of the ten Greatest Martial Arts Masters of this time too.
Granny Hu sighed:"If I knew the little lass would recognize me I wouldn't have to go through all that trouble!"
She turned to Zhu Lei'Er and said:"Come here little girl and tell me how you recognized granny? I will buy you sweets."
Zhu Lei'Er retreated to Feng San and said frantically:"Third uncle, she isn't dead. Granny Hu is alive...."
Feng San still had his eyes closed and said:"She isn't granny Hu."
Zhu Lei'Er stuttered:"She is wearing....the same clothes.....Her hair is the same like all those years ago.......Even her.....shoe...shoes."
Feng San coldly said:"She is not granny Hu. Granny Hu is dead."
Zhu Lei'Er stuttered:"But...but...she is here....she came back from the grave....."

The old woman, granny Hu laughed arrogantly.

She started to cry loudly.
