    Default Disappointing wuxia villains?

OK. We've discussed wuxia heroes who didn't quite live up to our expectations for heroism. Now, let's flip the coin: are there any wuxia *villains* whom you found disappointing because they just didn't seem menacing enough? Perhaps they had the requisite mean streak, but were just too incompetent to pose any serious threat to the heroes? Or perhaps the hype about the threat they posed far outstripped the reality?

Every Gu Long villain. They are just crap. Either die within one or two strikes of the "hero" or just drop dead for whatever reason right before a promising fight/situation starts. Then the friggin' novel ends.

MuRong Fu, given his equal billing with Xiao Feng, gave the impression of a supervillain with superpowers too - turned out to be a huge disappointment

The villains in LOCH definitely disappoint me.

    YK died too easily

AYF only became insane and not menacing enough

AYK broke his leg (HR did actually) and got stabbed by YK just like that ?

QQR became a good guy at the end.

    More action please !!!!!

Nevertheless LOCH is still in my top 3 list.

All the DGSD villains were rather dissapointing. Of course that has something to do with the heroes being omnipotent as well.

I rather like JMZ, Duan Yanqing, and You Tanzhi (if he can be considered villain). My favorite though is Murong Bo Such a slick bastard.

Most JY villians were totally disappointing in terms of kung fu.

Those that did the most damage were sometimes totally devoid of kung-fu, like Mrs Ma.

Those 'villians' with super kung fu were never totally bad. Like OYF and DFBB and TSTL/LQS. And people like MRB and JMZ reformed before they had a chance to do a fighting confrontation with the hero.

I have not finished the novel, so I don't really know, but which fight did you mean, and why did he die before the fight even started? From the adaptations that I watched, none was like that.

The mastermind in Gu Long's [Athena's translation of] The Sword and The Exquisteness. What a total let down. I understand that the ending wasn't written by Gu Long so can't blame it on him entirely.

About RWX dying before the fight. I'm not sure because I've only read the 1st edition (in a Viet translation) but RWX died on Hoa Son mountain. He declared that he will come to Hang Son and wipe it out but died shortly after saying that from old age.

I would love to change the world, but they won't give me the source code.

Trust no adaption for equal storyline to book.

Ren Wo Xing dies after he tried to force Ling Ho Chung to attack Shao Lin and Wu Dang.. and betray all good sects.

You asked for the spoiler, so I am giving it to you.

Look at the bright side, if RWX died before the fight, then that means he died undefeated

None of the DGSD villains seem like a huge and/or serious threat to the protags - mostly it's themselves they have to defeat. Or probably that's what Jin Yong intends.

Cheng Kun slinks around and plots too much - doesn't fight enough.
