Default Wuxia style/stance for each wuxia school

    Hi there,

I'm not sure whether this subject has been brought up before. I have a question and hopefully the answer is not too complicated.

Could some one help me list down the wuxia style/stance (rabadi need your help with english translation for 'jurus silat') from each wuxia school (again rabadi 'perguruan silat')?

    For instance:
Shaolin School their major style/stance is:
    - Shaolin punch ('tinju shaolin' , I know sounds like cocktail drink )

    From Kaipang is:
    - 18 Dragon Palm Style

    From Wudang is:
    - Tai Chi stances

It's far from complete, I need your guys help to help me list down for other wuxia school such as ErMei, Choa Chin Bai (not sure how to call this school, I mean the place where Yang Guo was sent to study by Guo Jing), Ming Jiao, Hua Shan, etc. Even the minor school such as Huang YaoShi's, Auwyang Fung's, Dali's, etc.

    Thanks in advance.

Why? My English is not that good Usually I just say "martial art technique" for "jurus silat" and "martial art school" for "perguruan silat". I am sure they are not the exact translation, but I think people will get the message anyway

    Eeyore,

Too lazy to post, so cut and paste.

    DG9J- Dugu 9 Jian

    HL18Palm/HL18Z/XL18Z - Hong Long 18 zhang (Xiang Long 18 )

6MSJ- 6 Mai Shen Jiang (DGSD)

XTJF - Heavy Sword Stage of DGKB.

L/R technique- Technique created by ZBT in that one is able to exhibit two different type of martial arts on different hand. Only three ppl: ZBt, GJ and XLN have learned it.

TS6YZ- Tian Shan 6 Yang Zhang/Palm; soft yang palm of Xiao Yao sect.

Tian Shan Zhe Mei Shou- reputedly able to mimick or adapt to all the best characteristics of all palm techniques. (DGSD)

BMSG- BeiMing ShenGong; one of the finest skills of Xiao Yao Sect, DY practices this technique which enables users to absorb enemy's inner power and use it as their own. (DGSD)

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There's a thread with links to the Shaolin supreme arts floating around, again too lazy to find it.

    Other sects:-

Ancient Tomb- Jade Maiden Sword, + Bee Needle, Ice Needle + ???

    Iron Sword Sects:- ???

    Quanzhen Pai
    -----------------
Xian Tian Gong - neigong (the one WCY teaches DZX)

Jin Yan Gong - qinggong (the one MY teaches GJ)

Tian Gong Bei Dou Zhen - formation (the Big Dipper)

Jin Yong Online also classifies the Quanzhen Swordplay into four types, each one better than the previous - Quanzhen Jianfa, Tonggui Jianfa, Chongyang Jianfa, and Yi Jian Hua San Qing, but as to whether these are canon to the novel I don't know.

Kongming Quan - Zhou Botong's "vacant fist" technique

    Beggar Clan
    ---------------
JYO has a ridiculous number of martial arts for Gaibang, of which I only recognise the following:-

Xianglong 18 Zhang (there's also a 'sans 3 palms' version, which is what GJ used for a while.

    Dagoupangfa - Dog beating stick

Xiaoyaoyou - what H7G taught HR, also a melee technique, even if it sounds more qinggong-like

Other like the Lianhuazhang, Tongcuishou, Yinshanzhang etc probably came from some of the minor elders.

and if you thought Gaibang was bad...

    Shaolin
    ---------

refer to this link if you can read chinese:-
    http://jy.sehang.net/menpaiwugong/001.htm?

    In short:-
    Swordplay
Luohan jianfa, Damo jianfa, Fumo jianfa

    Sabreplay
Chibidaofa, Xiuluodaofa, Yiumudaofa (JMZ used this against XZ)

    Fist/palms
Luohan quan, Fengyun shou, Shaolin changquan, Rulai qianye shou, Longzhao shou, Luohanfohu quan, Qianshourulai Zhang (Fang Zheng vs Ren Woxing) (most of the others probably just appeared in the XZ/JMZ fight), Jiashafumogong (XC used this against JMZ)

    Fingers
Dalijinkang zi (poor Wudang heroes got their limbs broken by this one), Yanhuazi, Duoluoyezi, Wushangjiezi (the three fingers skills JMZ used to trade for 6MSJ in Tian Long Zi), Yizi Chen (the one WXB could not learn)

    Formations
Shiba Luohan zhen, Jinkang fumo huan (Three Shaolin elders)

    Wudang
    ----------

    Fists
Wudang Changquan, Wudang Mianzhang (Song Yuanqiao vs Eagle King), Taijiquan

    Swords
Youyun Jianfa, Shaozhi Youjian (Muo Shenggu vs Eagle King), Taijijian

    Qinggong
Tiyunzong (the lightness kungfu Wuji used against Kongwen)

    Formations
Zhenwu chizhi zhen (Wudang seven heroes formation)

    Neigong
Wudang xinfa, Chunyang Wuji Gong (Zhang Shanfeng's 9yang portion)

    Darts
    Furong Jinzhen (Zhang Zhaozhong)

    Pen
    Yitiantulong Bifa (Zhang Chuishan)

I'll post some of the others some other time, these four sects have the most skills in JYO.

The next two sects cover the xiaoyaopai legacy

    Lingjiugong (Sacred Vulture Palace)
    --------------

    Neigong
Xiaoyao xinfa (basic skills for new girls), Bahuangliuheweiwoduzhuangong (TSTL's neigong), Xiaowushanggong (LQS's neigong), Beimingzhenqi (Wuyazi's neigong)

    Qinggong
Yueyingwubu (basic qinggong), Jiemeishengong (advanced qinggong)

    Sword
Tianyuqijian (again, I think only the little girls used this one)

    Sabre
Ruerdaofa (those girls didn't use sabres, did they?)

    Xingshu

    Xingshuxinfa (basic), Huagongdafa

    Qinggong
    Xingshushenfa (basic)

    Melee
    Chousuizhang, Sanyinwugongzhao, Xingshuxiaoyaozhang

    Feixingshu, Fangdufa

    Staff
    Tianshanzhangfa

Nope, I meant that the Xiaoyaopai legacy was carried mainly by two people - Ding Chunqiu and Tianshan Tonglao, and they formed their own sects, Xingshu and Lingjiu... these two sects have Xiaoyaopai martial arts as their base. Su Xinghe's disciples kept a very low profile, while Li Qiushui didn't really have any disciples.

Wasn't the Hsi Hsia Kingdom's 1 Bun Tong task force basically all trained in Lee Chou Sui's martial arts techniques?

    Ook, they were?

I'm probably wrong, then, but given that the task force's most powerful agents were the four evils and Murong Fu in disguise, I guess Li Qiushui probably just gave them basic training, rather than real Xiaoyaopai substance. It would have been scary with a whole task force of people using Xiaowushanggong and Baihongzhang invading the Song.. history would have been rewritten. I can't really see Li Qiushui training people too hard to invade her own country, although she probably didn't really care for patriotic matters.

Ian, do you want to say that LQS's & WYZ's skills are also on the walls in the TSTL's cave? CC is unsure about this.
