what? I'm sorry I'm so confused about the one school thingy. Are you still talking about similar IP address? No matter if the school has the same internet access, it is the IP that is different from computer to computer. IT is like a phone number or home address. There can't never be two exact same IP. So I think there might be a misuderstanding between internet connection and IP address. Anyone minds to share their thought on this?

yeah youre right. once a computer connects to a node in the network, it will be given an IP that acts as a locator. mostly it's like a phone number, or more likely, a computer address. without an IP, network devices cannot interact with each other, which is what the internet and networking is all about

As ghost said, when someone connects to the network and accesses the internet, they will be given a unique IP address from the pool within the network, so you may log on from the same computer on different days but have a different IP. The IP address is unique, so if two people turn up with the same IP within a few minutes of each other, it is very unlikely that these people are not connected.
