1st look trailer. And hey, Donnie Yen is in it!
Might be the only SW I ever see in theaters, since it has nothing to do with bland cheesy lightsaber battles (ie. bad SFX + bad cinematography)...

I must admit, main actress, Felicity Jones, looked better in this promo pic than in the actual teaser trailer above:

From the fundraiser vid above, Felicity Jones has a very Japanese V-shaped chin:
Rogue One happened between Star Wars 3 and 4?
That's what I've been reading. Darth Vader might play a big role in it also. We finally have a fighter who actually knows martial arts in the SW universe. I hope they give Donnie Yen much more screen time than in the teaser trailer. Otherwise, ROGUE ONE will just be another yawn fest to me like all the SW movies that came before it...
(Actually, I'm hoping Donnie's character might spar with Darth Vader, but it will suck b/c a real martial artist will be defeated by one with no martial arts skills on the big screen...)

Wonder if Donnie's character gets to wield a lightsaber during the movie?
Haha

Initially hyped for the movie, but now it looks kind of lame. Prove me wrong, but it looks like they only stuck Donnie Yen in it, so they could show the movie in China, no other reason. And he's given a laser crossbow of all things. If they want to make Donnie Yen cool, let the man have a multi-beam phaser launcher for a blind man, for Christ's sake.
Anyways, not really about Rogue one, but...

Won't be watching this and other trash Disney movies (ie. SW Ep VIII/IX) until someone can confirm Donnie Yen got a respectable role in it. Even then, it'll probably be at home on my laptop computer not at the cinema...Donnie Yen cheers on Asians in Hollywood

Action star Donnie Yen placed his deadly hands and feet in cement at Hollywood's TCL Chinese Theatre on Wednesday, voicing hope that his career would inspire fellow Asians to take up acting.
The martial artist-a multiple world champion in the wushu fighting style-was being honored for a body of work mainly in Chinese cinema, although he also stars in the much-anticipated Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
"Sometimes being an Asian actor is not easy. Unfortunately, for many years, Asian actors didn't have the same, equal opportunities," the 53-year-old Hong Kong resident says at the ceremony.
"But I think that things have been changing," he says. "And I certainly would like to be one actor that set a good example."
Overshadowed over the years by Jackie Chan and other sought-after kung fu stars, Yen has been gradually breaking into Hollywood since appearing in Guillermo del Toro's Blade II in 2002.
In Rogue One, due to be released on Dec 16, he plays a warrior monk who is part of a heroic band of rebels that steals plans for the Death Star.
He also stars opposite Vin Diesel in xXx: Return of Xander Cage, which hits theaters on Jan 20.
Born in Guangdong province in South China, Yen went to Hong Kong-where he lives now-at the age of 2 and later moved to the United States, growing up in Boston's Chinatown.
Much of the star's inspiration comes from his mother, Mark Bow-sim, a world famous wushu and tai chi master, at whose internationally-known Chinese Wushu Research Institute the young Yen learned kung fu.
When he became involved in gang violence in Boston at age 16, his worried parents sent him to Beijing, where he spent two years training with the famed Beijing wushu team, studying with the same masters as Jet Li's.
Yen's turning point came when the veteran film director Yuen Wo-ping, the action choreographer for the Matrix trilogy, discovered him and helped him to break into movies as the new kung fu hero.
Yen has spent years since then using his celebrity to wage a campaign to kick the Asian stereotype out of Hollywood.
In the mid-1990s, he turned down an offer from Francis Coppola because of a script he said contained "a ridiculous stereotype about the Chinese".
"I hope this ceremony, this achievement, will inspire many Chinese actors-not just Chinese actors, but many young actors-that they, too, can achieve the same dream if they put enough hard work into it," he said before sinking his hands into the cement.
"The force is with me and the force is with everybody."

Probably the worst star wars movie ever

Star wars has always been something fans look into, a fantasy world which set the standard for the genre back in the day. The first 3 movies set the stage to a series which was often viewed by keen followers of all ages. But this movie is a disgrace, its nothing but a cash cow for the Disney to pound on since the die hard fans will watch as along as it says star wars. The last three movies weren't the great, but still watchable. But this one is almost like a B grade Vietnam war movie. The director lacks the imagination at least of the anime series "star wars Rebels" and certainly not the creativity of the earlier movies. The star wars universe provide so much imagination and characters and star systems but the viewers are forced to watch a all human cast saving the day. It seems Lucas was right about the white slave masters. How ever in this case it is the fans that have been abused. The force does not exist with this one.

*** This review may contain spoilers ***
This is, by far, the worst Star Wars movie ever made. Ever. A list of reasons follows, and they are small compared to the number of flaws in the movie itself.
#1: Prologue roll-up and Williams' iconic Star Wars theme missing.
#2: Director ignored fact that at the time this story takes place, all Imperial Shuttles were of uniform design.
#3: U-Wing Fighter never existed BBY.
#4: AT-ST's are not used for urban street patrol. You either know why or you don't.
#5: General Tarkin would not need to usurp control over his own project.
#6: Imperial defector Crix Madine was responsible for delivering the original Death Star plans to the Rebellion.
#7: Darth Vader cheesy one-liner. 'Nuff said.
#8: Where is Wedge Antilles, the true leader of rogue One?
Add to this hamstrung and cheaply orchestrated fan-service, lack of respect for the original product, and an arrogant director obsessed with recreating the universe in his image, and I hope you can see why I rated this movie as the worst Star Wars movie ever.
Two threads on this movie. Anyway, I will ask here:
How old is Princess Leia in this movie? Does she appear/is she mentioned?
Haven't seen Rogue One nor do I plan to. SW isn't my thing. I have full movie of Ep VII, but only managed to watch parts of it to date. Tells u how I feel about SW. Anyways, anyone want a 2-3 minutes summary of Rogue One? (SPOILERS ALERT: You probably will have watched the entire movie from these short clips):
Princess Leia scene:

Darth Vader scene (YR has taken down the super-cheesy Darth Vader scene where he hacks the rebels to death in a corridor using classical moves from Chinese wuxia just b4 Death Star plan reached Leia, but maybe there's another copy of it floating around on YT...):
