@jayjenxi:
"Laughing Proudly at the World" should be renamed as Laughing in the Wind or The Smiling, Proud Wanderer These two are the MOST popular titles.....
The recent TV adaptation was made into an idol drama called "Swordsman"
Thanx for the effort...

I can share the cleaned up docx or htm files if somebody wants to convert to epub v3, and proof it?

Laughing in the Wind and SPW are titles of the TV dramas, that's partly why they seem to be popular. While they are popular translations of the title, they actually don't convey the real meaning of the titles. Laughing Proudly at the World is the closest to the meaning. I used this thread as a reference by the way: http://www.spcnet.tv/forums/showthre...ao-Ao-Jiang-Hu

I guess the most literal translation of the title would be something like "Laughing Proudly in the Martial Arts Community". In the book, it was just a music score/book after all.
But sometimes literal translation "sucks". I've read the abridged John Minford's translation of Deer & the Cauldron many years ago, and it was almost incomprehensible from all the "accurate" literal translations. For example, the recently completed one by foxs is much better in that she does not put too much effort in providing "proper" English equivalents for many of the phrases/words.
Yes, literal translations can be awkward especially if the literal meaning is different from the actual meaning, which is the case in for XAJH. Your translation is a word-by-word translation but this is an idiom so you have to take its meaning as a whole phrase instead of translating word by word. It actually means to resolutely live a carefree, unrestrained life in the jianghu.
The use of Laughing Proudly at the World to strike a balance between conveying the meaning while sounding natural in English, though "proudly" is not a give a very accurate picture. It has a dual meaning, first being the reference to the music score, and the second is an embodiment of Linghu Chong's journey to and eventual attainment of enlightenment, the state of divinity.

Thanks a lot!
Will post it on the site.
Sorry there hasn't been much movement of late on posting translations (work/ house move/ then vacation). Am going to try to get Condor Heroes and other stuff uploaded soon.
We have also been trying to recruit translators from various non-SPCTV.net sources with a view to translating more books.
Anybody who has any interest in participating, please get in touch?
thanks for the epub!
Thanks a lot for the files
Have updated with epub/ mobi Condor Trilogy... still very much a work in progress...

Not very happy with the aesthetics, but like the idea of a table we can complete.
Will try to fill in some Jin Yong, Gu Long and WH Demoness shortly.
Thanks to Foxs and tungfuurue, and jayjenxi.
And of course if anybody wants to help collaborate on new translations...
Looking at Fox Volant... would be great to have complete Jin Yong unabridged set.
If you are interested to help with the translation or know of someone who is, please let us know. We are trying to gather a group of translators to help speed up the process.
